As a family navigating this new world with a special needs infant Dr Wambera is my favourite specialist to link up with. She is professional, to the point and meticulous in her care for our daughter.

I am so grateful we got to see Dr. Wambera. She clearly cares, listens and wants to find definitive answers and affective treatment. She is obviously very knowledgeable and explained things in ways that gave me a new perspective as a parent and I appreciate that. One thing I wish I had pushed for more information on however, was the very unlikely (but not impossible) chance my son has a rare HH tumour. Though he had an MRI which came back normal, I am on an HH forum where most parents report their child's HH was missed on one, two and sometimes more MRIs due to their location, size, that they tend to "blend in" and their rarity meaning most radiologists, neurologists, doctors have never seen one before. I did have a document I'd found on specific HH MRI protocol to ask her about but did not on the day as didn't want to offend or suggest I thought she didn't know what she was talking about. But as parents we should always push and advocate for our children and I regret not asking more. Particularly as our son has 20+ worsening symptoms that have been put down to an increasing stack of multiple diagnoses with no obvious causes or strong genetic links, and an HH tumour would cause literally all of his current symptoms from the (infrequent but very real) gelastic seizures to his learning disabilities (as reported by other parents of kids with HH - difficulty reading, writing), his confusion, mood swings, behavioural issues, bed wetting, vomiting, visual distortions, and more. Many kids with HH are diagnosed with the ADHD, ODD, Autism, Dyslexia... the overlap is immense and I just wish I could be more conclusively satisfied that HH is 100% not the cause here. Perhaps I somewhat hope he does have an HH because there's potential for laser ablation surgery in that case which can remove it and many cases report all their symptoms disappearing. So perhaps I'm selfishly wishing for that possibility. I do know they are rare and I am not suggesting Dr. Wambera doesn't know all of the things above, in fact I'm sure she knows more. It was evident from our meeting that she is focussed, highly knowledgeable and cares genuinely so despite my ongoing niggle about the HH possibility, I do feel we are in the best possible hands with her and Dr. Mackenzie and that the ever growing list of neurological conditions and physical symptoms my son has are simply connected, as is the case for many kids. And we need to treat each one separately, accordingly and accept the diagnoses.

We had a referral to see this specialist for our daughter. From the start, we were shocked at the rude and unprofessional behaviour from her staff, specifically the receptionist, as well as the doctor herself. Her demeanour was that she was doing us a favour, rather than it was her professional job as a doctor. We have found another specialist who is knowledgeable and trustworthy and has a wonderful relationship with her clients/patients; a doctor who truly cares and has a wonderful professional and respectful attitude to the child in care, as well as to the parents.

Was just hung up on by their receptionist who would not give us an appointment for our son. We have seen Dr. Wambera every 6 months for almost 13 years. Had tried contacting them on a number of occasions but they were on lunch break or closed and they don't take messages. We just need an updated prescription.

We were referred to Katherine for my son who was 6 months old at the time of the appointment. I read all the reviews online and was quite skeptical about what type of person i was going to get on the other end of the video. From the start of the zoom call Katherine was very kind, she explained everything in detail and was very knowledgeable. I appreciated the way she asked after explaining something if i understood and if i didn't she would make sure i did before moving on. I thought she was great and would highly recommend.

Cannot make appointment when needed as no one answers the phone and the machine doesn't accept messages. My son is having adverse reactions to a medication and needs his neurologist and I can't contact the office. It's very frustrating.

I just had a very poor telephone experience with the receptionist Melisa. Our son has been seeing Dr. Wambera for years and a phone message was received by us to book our yearly visit. We phoned several times, but the phone would just keep ringing finally going a message stating I would not be able to leave a message to help book our son an appointment. Today Mellissa finally answered the phone which was very exciting only to find out that now we would need another referral in order to see Dr. Wambera. When asked if we could have Dr. Wambera phone us back we were told she will not be doing this. We were shocked. In all the years our family always had excellent experiences and are dumb founded on the difficulties we are now having to contact this office just to simply make an appointment. This was upsetting as our child needs direct and steady support at school with an EA and knowing that this now could effect the funding for support is frustrating. We feel this has been very unprofessional on their part as they are not making it easy to contact the office and no letters of warning were sent to our home. Two phone calls by them, first left with a message and none the second time, no letter in the mail, and now funding for our son is at risk. It should be made easier to contact this office or the doctor.

I don’t understand the negative reviews about her bedside manner at all!! She was nothing short of amazing with us and our son!
We couldn’t meet face to face due to covid, but she spent almost AN HOUR on the phone explaining everything in great detail and was very polite, friendly, and has a wonderful sense of humour.
Absolutely nothing negative to say about this Dr.

We are so fortunate to have a pediatric neurologist on the island! We got in within 5 weeks of our referral, which was unexpectedly fast! Office staff was very helpful upon booking. She saw us immediately and took great care in collecting my sons history. She was extremely thorough and explained everything to me in great deal and then repeated it to my husband when he came in later. This is just the beginning of our journey at this practice and I look forward to our future appointments.
Thank you!
