You have no business influencing thousands of people's careers, livelihood and studies by suggesting foreign students should not come to study under a safe program. Shame on you.

Dr. Banerji treated my daughter after we had vacationed in the Caribbean. After 2 weeks of bizarre fevers and stomach ailments I had tried the Emergency Room at Sick Kids knowing our family doctor did not feel comfortable dealing with “tropical diseases”. They poo-poo’d my concern and basically told me my child had a summer cold. I had to beg them to test for Malaria. We were lucky enough to be able to see Dr. Banerji shortly thereafter and low and behold did the whole family not turn out to have been exposed to a little parasite rarely seen in Canada. Had she just treated my daughter’s symptoms I would still be walking around with the parasite myself, but she thoroughly assessed and examined everyone who had been on our trip and made sure all of us were healthy even if we didn’t all have symptoms. I am grateful to her on many levels and have great confidence in her expertise in international diseases!

We were referred to Dr. Banerji by a Pediatrician from Sick Kids Hospital with a diagnosis of "probable reflux". We spoke with an intern for 20 minutes describing the symptoms and pain our son was experiencing at night when he awakes with obvious discomfort indicated by short screams and groans. We even provided a video evidence. When Dr. Banerji returned with the student, she asked to see the video and promptly and confidently proclaimed it was night terrors. No questions to the parents about anything she discussed with the student, no examination of our son, just a diagnosis based on a 30 second video. We expressed our dismay with the diagnosis because he is clearly in some discomfort at night, and not 'terrified or hysterical', but she insisted it was night terrors and recommended we do some research. We have since done some research and are unable to find any evidence of night terrors even remotely resembling our son's condition. She was completely useless.

We were following up on a reflux diagnosis from another pediatrician. Banerji said our son didn't have reflux because Zantac hadn't worked. No suggestion of trying another treatment. That's like saying if chemo doesn't work, you don't actually have cancer! Offered no help for his related problems of low fluid intake, chronic constipation, and pain when drinking fluids - even denied he was experiencing pain despite him crying and arching away during and after bottles. She graphed his growth then told told us we were drammatically overfeeding our child, his weight was "off the charts" and we needed to cut way back. In fact, our son is quite lean and eats far fewer than the recommended number of calories. She had just examined him and so should have realized this with her own eyes. I had to show her that she had graphed his weight incorrectly. She admitted her mistake, but ended the visit shortly after that by walking out and not coming back.
