I too felt very uncomfortable in his office. The vague questions didn't say anything about how I was really doing. I found he wasn't listening to me several times. I had stopped talking mid sentence while he was typing on his tablet and he didn't notice. I felt very frustrated leaving his office. This is the third Psychiatrist that I've tried to talk with who really doesn't listen. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I feel really hurt.

Dr. Latimer treats his medical work as though it is a business; push people through the door as quickly as possible and provide to the pharmaceutical companies as much survey data on clinical trial medication. I sat down for the first time with Dr. Latimer after having waited many months to see him. He asked me a series of vague multiple choice questions which he simply clicked in on the computer. After the survey was complete, I was deemed "moderately depressed" and he continued to push me toward taking a TRIAL medication. This was the first thing he recommended. Without gathering any more information and wanting to understand the details of my life and struggles, he is pushing me toward a trial medication. Why? Because that's business. His practice no doubt earns a lot of money for giving out this information. I felt I was used for nothing more than an opportunity for him to make an extra dollar. Very disappointing experience.

First off, when you walk into Dr. Latimer's office, you feel like the only patient. They do not overbook, and see you promptly. Dr. L allowed me to actively participate in my treatment, and try medications I wanted to try. Great Dr.

He is a very talented and very busy. Dr L has treated several members of my family and has been very helpful for each of us. However, I did notice that when he stopped working at the hospital and focused more on clinical trials etc that he became more clinical himself. Reminder to both the happy and the mad...he has gone thru some pretty traumatic family stuff himself in recent yrs and yes this may have distracted him. Also a good reminder, a psychiatrist is there to diagnose and prescribe. Not to counsel. We all tend to forget that. He is human, he is a good doc and a good psychiatrist. But he is very busy and has/had become very clinical in his treatment.

Dr. Latimer is without question one of the most talented, caring, knowledgeable and compassionate physicians I have ever met. I consider myself and my family, who also see him, exceptionally fortunate to be under his care. He listens to my questions and then answers them, explains what I don't understand, and allows me to participate in my own care. I have a complicated medical history of which depression is just a part, and he is as interested in the whole picture as he is about his part in it. He has ensured that my family was seen and treated as well having had to live with chronic illness for so long, and he has had an equally positive effect on them as well. I enjoy our discussions, and trust his medical opinions and recommendations, he has been right each time. For a doc with his wealth of experience, he remains on the cutting edge of psychiatry, few docs, in any field, remain as dedicated to his profession and patients, as Dr. Latimer has.

Paul Latimer was horid and extremely rude when he told me to go home from emergency after my GP demanded that I be there. I was in terrible shape depressed, suicidal, emotional and unable to work for days.He told me there was nothing wrong with me, so he sent me home suicidal and all. That was approx 20 yrs ago, since then I have been diagnosed with Bi-polor by many Doctors over the years. Thank goodness I see a great local psych every 2 weeks for years and years now. It is my feeling that Latimer is the most uncompassionate, uncaring and unprofessional doctor that I have ever seen in my 50 yrs. And if deals with other people in the shape I was he could and probably will cost people their lives.

Dr Latimer has treated and me, several of my siblings, and several of my children. I was the first and everytime I have asked him if he would see another of my family members he has graciously agreed. All have been happy with his service.

I found Dr. Latimer to be professional and easy to open up to. I felt comfortable being honest with him and I look forward to my next appointment. His suggestions were not forced and still rang true after I had some time to think about them. I feel as if I am in good hands. I do not understand the negative comments, they seem to be for a different doctor.
