I first had an ablation for Atrial Fibrillation performed by Rukshen Weerasooryia in 2016 after 2 unsuccessful cardioversions.
The first ablation was unsuccessful but I had a second in 2017 which again did not last.
In 2017 I had a clot and a bowel resection, as a result, I was very anxious to overcome A.F.
and remove the risk of another clot.
I contacted Rukshen in 2019 and he told me about a new procedure he was planning to introduce in Australia in partnership with Cardiothoracic Surgeon Pragnesh Joshi and subsequently, when they had trained in the USA I became number 12 to have this procedure
carried out in February 2020.
I am in rhythm at the moment and am delighted with the outcome, I cannot recommend the skill of these two gentlemen enough for what they have given me and both their manner and professionalism and skill is outstanding as is their ability to also be very caring,

Rukshen performed a successful Ablation Procedure in November 2016. Since then my condition has continued to be free of fibrillation.. The monitoring system that was implanted has confirmed ongoing satisfactory performance. I have found Rukshen to be helpful and eager to inform me of the details of the procedure and consequences.

I can’t recommend this great doctor and his team enough, he gave me my life back. He is kind, considerate, respectful and he listens, you never feel under any pressure.
I don’t know where I’d be without this man and what he did for me.

10 years ago dr Rukshen Weerasooriya gave me back my quality of life when he performed one of the early ablutions on my heart.
I visited him again recently on an another matter and I am very pleased at the high standard of service I received.

I am eternally grateful to Dr Weerasooriya for his treatment of Ablation to my heart 7 years ago. It has resulted in my having a new life. Life was very uncomfortable before with constant episodes of my heart going out of rhythm which meant my heart was frequently on a daily basis racing. I was short of breath and never able to enjoy a peaceful relaxed day.
7 years on;
l bless each day because my days feel normal and l can relax and enjoy life.
I would very highly recommend him and would have no hesitation to go back to him if l need to.

I would like to say that Professor Rukshen Weerasooriya has fixed my heart so I can have a better life. If he didn't operate who knows what might have happened to me. He made me aware that people can have something wrong and never know it until its too late. His knowledge and training of his operation skills are well over the top for fixing my heart up.
His staff and everyone that works and helps him have a very good skills and knowledge of the procedures and training and knowing what needs to be done, and while In the hospital and after the operation they where there to help me and get me back up on my feet. And I am very glad and appreciate everything Rukshen and his staff has done for me in making my life better, and if I needed someone to fixed it up I would highly recommend Professor Rukshen Weerasooiya it operate on you or me again to fix your heart.

I was initially referred to Dr. Weerasooriya in 2012 when I was found to be in Artrial Fibrillation and underwent an AF Ablation. During the passage of time to date this has been followed by 2 further AF Ablations and 3 cardio versions . On each of these reoccurring occasions after I have made contact with Dr. Weerasooriya he has expedited my admission to hospital to undergo treatment . On 2 occasions when he wasn’t available he has arranged for a cardiologist to perform the procedure to eliminate any delay in my treatment . The network that exists between Dr. Weerasooriya and fellow cardiologists in his times of absence is extremely beneficial in my times of need . This has bought immense comfort to myself and family when suffering with AF. Since my original consultation Dr. Weerasooriya has had carriage of my program to reduce reoccurring AF problems ( Sleep Apnoea, and directing me to practitioners to address dietary and life style management issues.) My quality of life has improved immensely with Dr. Weerasooriya’s management of my AF issue . I highly recommend his services to anyone suffering with similar heart issues.

After having a stroke due to AF in 2006 and feeling daunted at having to be on blood thinners for the rest of my life, I was referred to Rukshen for an assessment. Pulmonary vein ablation was new to Perth at that time, but Rukshen's confidence and caring manner in explaining the procedure and possible outcome was very encouraging, despite knowing that I would most likely need more than one operation to bring the heart back into regular rhythm again. As it happened he was successful after three procedures and I was free from AF for 10 years. At the end of 2018 the AF returned. True to his pioneering qualities, Rukshen along with a cardiothoracic surgeon, Mr. Pragnesh Joshi, travelled to the USA to learn a new procedure to enhance the success of stubborn or recurring cases. This has been such a great success for me and I have even been able to come off my blood pressure medication for the first time in many years. My medications have come down considerably and my wife and I are so grateful to Rukshen and his team for their dedication and extremely respectful attitude throughout the whole procedure. I had been referred to Rukshen after my second episode of AF. For my first episode a cardioversion was done by a different cardiologist which worked , but after about a year my heart rhythm started playing up again. My GP then recommended to see Rukshen and I can't be happier. Rukshen suggested to do a pulmonary vein ablation, clearly explaining what is involved and what rate of success can be expected, also stating that a second ablation may be necessary at a later stage. During this whole process he showed him self to be a very caring specialist and human being. Concerns were addressed and Rukshen clearly stated what could be expected during and after the procedure. Absolutely the most caring and technically qualified specialist that I have come across and I first met Ruskhen as an early patient back in 2006 so feel that I know him very well. Since that timeI, havent hesitiated to refer atrial fibulation suffers to him and they all couldn't be happier with his sevices.To boot, a wonderfull human being, who unlike many specialists, does not sit in an ivory tower ,but meets you on reassuringly open and caring terms.A gem of a man in fact and many people have had their lives given back to them by his skills.Once of the most skilled in his field in all of Australia as I had heard from other medicos.
