I have had two Mohs surgeries performed by Dr. Henghold. I found him to be extremely capable and caring, and would highly recommend him to anyone who has skin cancer.

I had a precancerous lesions. I was referred to Dr. Henghold. When I went for my appointment, I saw a nurse practitioner who used liquid nitrogen to remove the lesion. It wasn’t successful, so I went back after a few months when it became obvious that it was still there. Liquid nitrogen, again. It seem to me that she hadn’t sprayed the entire lesion, but, surely, she knew what she was doing. She said, if it returned, I would need a biopsy. Well, the area she missed became rougher, again, but I decided to wait until the annual skin check they had already scheduled after the first appointment. As I thought about the next appointment, it seemed a bit strange that I’d never seen the doctor, even when I returned for the second appointment for the same issue. Should I really go back for a third visit? So I canceled the appointment and scheduled one with a different doctor. I saw the nurse practitioner, who actually listened. She found the area of rough skin. More liquid nitrogen. Then the doctor came in next and talked to me about my family history, the pre-cancerous lesion, and the importance of annual skin checks. Dr. Henghold is May be a very good doctor, but I wouldn’t know. I’ve never met him. Strange.

Though I've heard Dr Henghold is a good skin graft and plastic surgeon, I wouldn't recommend using this practice for normal cancer screenings or particular skin issues. I was not impressed with his associate, Jenna Beasley, who rushed me in and out of the office because they were running 30 minutes late and she had to go out for lunch. After a 15 minute body scan, she was unable to even tell me what a bump was on my wrist. Though she removed it for a $197 charge, it has since returned. My 1st time office visit for such poor quality of care was $220 (plus the $197 unsuccessful "surgery" charge). I subsequently went to Dr Wade Peters and was surprised to actually see him on the first visit. He immediately diagnosed the bump on my wrist as benign, answered my questions and even offered sample products -all for a 1st time office visit charge of $100. The Henghold 'Skin Health' side of this practice is overrated and justifies its over-pricing on the surgeon's exceptional reputation.

Not very professional. A little too close for comfort.

My experience and my spouse's experience is that this office regularly uses overbooking and is therefore incapable of seeing patients even remotely according to schedule. Both my initial and second visits involved significant wait times despite being morning appointments, and my spouse heard the patient before her asking about his 8:40 appointment at 9:40. To the staff's credit, they responded politely and as best they could. If your time is not valuable to you, you may be satisfied, but we are not. Unless you can verify that you will be the very first appointment of the day, I suggest taking your business elsewhere.
Also, when I scheduled my initial appointment, I specifically requested seeing Dr. Hengold. I was not told then that I would see someone else, but when I signed in I was informed that I would be seeing one of the Nurse Practitioners. I was satisfied with NP's knowledge, but not with the bait-and-switch approach used by this practice.

It took two visits to convince these folks that a 5 mm spot on my face needed to be biopsies. I could plainly see that it was a basal cell carcinoma, and the biopsy confirmed it. When I got my stitches out a week after the surgery, everything seemed okay until I got home and looked at the scar in a magnifying mirror. There was a gap in the incision. I called the office right away and left a message at the nurse's station. This was well before closing time. No one ever called me back. I did the best I could to butterfly it, and I will call another dermatologist this morning. My experience with this office has been terrible.

I was disappointed to learn that Dr. Hengold does not provide health care insurance for his staff of at least 50- employees.

I have been going to Dr. Henghold for over 6 years. He has performed surgery on me several times, and is absolutely the best! He closes wounds with preciseness, and I only have hairline scars on my face. I would recommend him highly!!
