Like five years ago, he reconstructed my knee. He’s a pretty cool guy.

If you want to be talked down to and not have any of your questions answered (on several occasions) this is the doctor for you. Dr. Lever is absolutely rude and pompous!! He made me feel like I was completely inconveniencing him and he had better things to do during my 5 minute appointments. You could also tell that all the others in the orthopaedic clinic were on edge around him too, they were all so nervous! It’s a shame he makes patients and staff feel so uneasy. He would be a terrible person to work with everyday. Thank goodness I never need to see him again!

Dr. Lever is amazing! Put my ankle back together after a dislocation and tib/fib fracture. 6 weeks post-op and I'm walking, cycling and driving! Wouldn't be where I am without him and all of the amazing staff at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre!

His office staff is HORRIFIC. I cannot believe someone so mean would work in healthcare. He’s a very knowledgeable guy but I will be switching doctors because of his receptionist.

It is 5 months post orif ankle surgery! The other day as I hopped down from my kid's 4' high tree Fort, I couldn't help but be so incredibly thankful for this man and prompted to write him a review.
My surgery after a fibula fracture last winter, went pretty much flawlessly! His demeanour means nothing to me (although I didn't have any bad experience, just monotonous and not particularly friendly)! He is an EXCELLENT surgeon and having a functioning leg means more to me than my Dr (that I'll hopefully never see again) smiling and joking with me!
He answered all my questions before I asked them and as soon as I was given the go ahead at 7 weeks post op, I was out of that boot and haven't looked back. I would say I am 98% back to pre fracture function! But have been highly functioning stand alone since I took the aircast off!
Thank you Dr. Lever!

Most say he has an additude to be honest I rather be told how it is. Which he does , so if u had a knee replacement do the exercises and he would be happy, so don’t waste his time since he did a good job on your knee. It’s hard work but in the end you will be very happy.

Just had a full hip replacement done 6 weeks ago.
I found Dr. Lever to be very straight forward with what needed to be done, how it was going to be done and what to expect after it was done. All was exactly what he described. I am following the post surgery protocol and am making a great recovery. Both he and his staff are extremely busy trying to catch up from the COVID delays and don’t really have time for the warm and fuzzies. This doctor knows his stuff and I won’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing orthopaedic surgery!

He may be good at what he does, but their is little respect for the patient by his receptionist or him. I was in serious pain provided 3 test's hand delivered and it took only 4 1/2 months to see him. No info is provided when you ask for an appointment, voice message asking for a return call is ignored. When I finally got to see him he was going to give me a cortisone injection that I no longer needed and when I tried to give information I was continually spoken over/ interrupted, nothing short of RUDE. Patients see a doctor when they are in pain or need help and should not be treaded like a pain in the rear and get some respect.

Everyone I asked all said the same thing - good at his job ! But aren’t we all supposed to be when getting a monetary sum for a service ! The fact is that James lever like some Doctors think they are above others and can belittle and talk down to their patients as I have experienced today ! Had knee replacement and while getting staples out was advised I had infection by not only one doctor but by 3 different MD’s I was advised to see Dr lever which I did and explained my situation ! Lever took this to be an insult to his profession and ability then informed me I didn’t have a infection and to basically suck it up and deal with the pain this was before I could inform him of how and why I was there to see him.if I said Lever had bad bed side manners then that would be a compliment ! Served my country in a war plus 30 years as a career firefighter and wish I could have had Lever serve alongside me just so I could have made him into a man worth respecting and not a spoiled uncaring aloof entitled horrible person that he has bovine ! Stay away and find a different Doctor !

in 2014 he repaired my badly smashed Rt. wrist. He operated in a 3" incision for over 2 hours to find all the bits and put as much back together as possible and inserted a steel bar, screws and wires to make it functional. He told me I would lose about 10% function; I was glad to have even 50% after an ER Dr. told me I likely would lose most of my function and strength. I can do all the normal things, gardening, knitting, lifting weights with only a little loss of being able to straighten 2 fingers. If you want a skilled dr. who will give you excellent surgery and if you do your rehab therapy diligently and correctly, he is the doctor to see.
