Routine cytoscopy caused ecoli infection, was given wrong Rx and got worse. Called and was told to keep taking it and call back in a few days. When they finally ran the test that should have been done immediately to determine which bacteria, they didn’t call me with the results. So I called the office and was told they hadn’t run it. Then apparently someone there found the results and figured out they did run it, so called in the right Rx to the pharmacy…and didn’t call to tell me. So for a few days, while I was getting worse and worse, the medicine I needed was at the pharmacy but no one knew it. Dr Spellman wasn’t returning my calls. By this time, I was extremely uncomfortable and in quite a bit of pain. When I went to the pharmacy to pick up a different med, they gave me the one that had been sitting there for days as well. It helped, but after a week, it was obvious there was something else wrong. This was about 3 weeks after the routine cytoscopy made me sick. I ask for a CT scan and was told to wait for over a month. So I switched doctors, got a CT the next day, was diagnosed with an abscess on my prostate, and had surgery the following day. Over a month after Dr Spellman performed the cytoscopy that caused it and let me suffer unnecessarily for over a month, and a month sooner than the abscess would have been discovered (maybe) by Dr Spellman, who was the one doing the botched procedure in the first place. Total incompetence. They were like medical keystone cops except not funny.
