I'll be honest, reading some of these reviews prior to my surgery I was a bit concerned as I didn't know Dr. Adler from any other doctor. I actually went to have a second opinion by another hand surgeon, and was given the same advice that Dr. Adler initially gave. In researching his "reviews" here and on other sites, it seems that much of the criticism is aimed at his personality. For me, it wasn't nearly as off putting as apparently it was for others. Yes he was direct and to the point and somewhat dry in his humor, but he also took the time to answer my questions if I had any. You can tell that he's not a bad guy, he's just not one of those physicians that will chat your ear off about stuff that has nothing to do with anything. All in all, my surgery went exactly like he said it would, and I'm happy with how it was handled. By the way, I'm not sure if there are new staff there or not, but every person I encountered at his office was great. Nothing but polite.

Dr. Alder fixed my broken metacarpal in 5 weeks without surgery nor physical therapy. He is a competent hand surgeon with a dry interpersonal style. bottom line, the results speak for themselves.

Probably the worst beside manner ever! He never introduced himself, made eye contact, or asked me how I injured myself. His comments were abrupt, rude and condescending. He also sat at the desk and hollered for one of his staff, instead of walking down the hall. Extremely unprofessional! I don't doubt his medical skills, but being a caring doctor and being good at what you do aren't mutually exclusive. A good doctor has both. If my injury had been more serious, I would definitely have found a different doctor. If you're thin-skinned, run the opposite direction!

Having MD doctors as brother & sister and having dozens of MD doctor clients, I have never spoken to such an impersonable doctor in my life. That said, I need my hand fixed, not a date, would rather he be cold and skilled than nice and incompetent. Based on the above comments NONE of which question his competence, I am going in to have my hand cyst removed. Will report back if it does not go well.

Dr. Adler did a stellar job putting me back together so I would highly recommend him as a surgeon. He isn't the friendliest person I've ever met but his office staff more than made up for it.

No he is not a people person, but his a fantastic hand surgeon who professes in his trade to other physicians. He will not waste your time and he expects the same in return. So if you are looking for someone to pacify you or a therapist than I suggest you look else where.

I found the office to be very quiet and calming, really unexpected and unusual for a specialist's office, office staff helpful and adequate, Dr Adler may not seem to have any bedside manner or personality, but I found him to be very knowledgeable and he did explain the problem with my hand in detail and answered all my questions. He did the surgery and I'm very pleased. I will and do recommend him. I would rather have a Dr./Surgeon who was capable and knowledgeable rather than a sweet talking Doctor with a good bedside manner. I needed a successful surgery, not a date!

Very, very rude person. Seems to be knowledgeable but at the same time disrespectful to the patient.
