No complaints on staff but Dr. Ayabe needs to improve his communication skills in the little time he has left before he retires. He did not offer any recommendations and felt he blew me off when I left his office. He did not bother to "check further" when I went into this office complaining of continued pelvic pain and pressure. I felt abandoned. I hope no one else has to go through an experience like I did.

I saw this doctor because he had great reviews, both here and the HMSA website. His staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the nurse who initially helped me was extremely sweet and helpful; however, I did not feel Dr. Ayabe was very helpful. He was nice enough, but when I asked him questions, he gave me open-ended questions. When he did the examination, he was in-and-out, which I suppose could be a good thing, but I'm someone who likes to be told what is going on. When I talked to him about an issue I was having, he reassured that it wasn't the case. I asked about medication and he was not very helpful in explaining to me or giving me options. The appointment was more than two weeks ago, and I still haven't heard back about results or anything.

Dr. Ayabe is a really good doctor... I had a cervical cyst taken out and he was very kind and knew that I was in pain and didnt try to aggrivate my pain at all. He is very professional and I love that he is comfortable with having my husband in the room while I have my exams. He took care of the situation as soon as he knew it was okay. If I didnt go to him I probably would have gotten the run around with all these other doctors...

i've been going to dr ayabe since 1991. his patient and calm demeanor makes you feel less stressed and comfortable. he delivered both of my children. and is very respected by the medical profession. my friend who is a doctor and even my delivery nurses said that dr ayabe is a very capable and knowledgeable doctor. and that i was lucky to have him. my mother and sister go to him... and when you mention his name... you'll find that a lot of women (co-workers) go to him as well. his staff are very hard workers and are always pleasant.

Dr. Ayabe is knowledgeable but does not know to to translate his knowledge to his patients. This is my first pregnancy and questions are not welcome and only anwserd vaguely. Doctors bed side mannger is not professional. If you are looking for just a yearly doctor and your healthy he will do but if you want to have someone who is able to support you and not treat you like a number than try another doctor.

(Im japanese.)Dr. Ayabe was not helpful at all. Every time when me or my husband (His is local) asked questions, he gave us a wiead eye. For example, when I asked "I had bad crumps this time. Is it somehow related to my taking Clomid?" He just coldly said "Yes." That was all.... He wanted to give me a surgery of my fabroids. His explanation was that if you dont get pregnant, you gotta do something. I aksed "Will the surgery help me become pregnant or does it have a possiblity to cause me a new infertility?" He said "I dont know. But you gotta do SOMETHING!" I got scared because I didnt want a surgery without a clear explanation. SO I went to a new doctor to have the second opinion. The new dr told me that my fabroids were very small, so they were not likely to cause me infertility. Actually my problem of infertility was at another place. Im glad I changed doctors.

Dr. Ayabe is sincere and gentle. His calming demeanor and speech provides for a comfortable environment. I was very nervous when I first arrived to Hawaii and needed to find and OBGYN physician. I am fortunate to have found Dr. Ayabe. He is everything I wanted and what I needed. He has a great staff who always have a smile on their faces. Thanks Ladies!!
