We were sent to this doctor post mva. We were instructed by the defence to attend. Dr. was 30+ mins late. We were 10 mins early. No respect from his side or accountability blaming others for his tardiness.
His line of questioning is a kin to a lawyer grilling someone on the stand.

Apparently a one man show. Kept changing appointments and we drove hours to see him.

Time to retire!

Would not recommend him at all.

I underwent assessment by Dr. Debow for insurance purposes. I was told that the purpose of the examination was to make sure I received appropriate treatment for injuries sustained in a traffic accident. The appointment was disturbing. Dr. Debow was confused and overbearing. He called me by the wrong name, even though I corrected him repeatedly. When he did not ask questions pertinent to the accident, and cut me off when I raised the topic, I thought he had my case mistaken for another. He dedicated a great deal of time to making me calculate the exact ages of many extended family members. His insistent probing into my sexual history and activities was salacious, creepy and irrelevent to the task at hand. It was evident that Dr. Debow was maneuvering me to respond in ways that supported a preconceived conclusion. In his assessment, he reported diagnoses for which there were no actual grounds, and that could not be established reliably in one short interview. Several years later, he did a second assessment without meeting with me in person. He added even more dire and mistaken diagnoses to his report, again with no basis. Unlike Dr. Debow, I do not leap to conclusions, so I cannot presume to know why he is doing what he is doing. He may sincerely believe he is protecting insurance companies from fraudulant claims and identifying malingers. He may enjoy the income from churning out prefab assessments with no responsibility to patients he meets only briefly. Because the patients he sees are already suffering, vulnerable, traumatized, they are unlikely to file a complaint with the College of Physicians. It might be regarded with suspicion as "vexatious," so the best strategy is avoid him. Use this judge's ruling against Dr. Debow's findings as evidence of his incompetence, grounds to request assessment by a different physician:

I was sent to this psychiatrist by my insurance to have an assessment. He is the WORST. What should have been a 2 hour assessment was completed in 30 minutes and he asked me nothing but basic and offensive questions. When I asked him if he could help me get better he said and I quote "I am not here to help you. Go see your Doctor. Take some tissues as you leave." Beyond disgusted with this hack of a physician. I left feeling belittled and worse than when I had entered. He should not be practising medicine, let alone psychiatry.

Went to see this doctor and instead of asking what I did for my employment he asked me if I am or was on welfare at the time of the accident. He also asked if I had children and if they were for the same father. I found it highly offensive that because I am black he would make such an assumption. He later asked about my employment and found out I am a career woman.
What was supposed to have been a 2 hour assessment took 40 minutes and I left feeling that nothing was accomplished and I would not be helped.

My wife was rear ended in car accident and therefore our Insurance sent us to him as she had slip disc after the accident. When we arrived for her appointment, he came out and the minute he saw her he insited that she needed interpreter and would even not look at her. I took day off work and the insurance arranged cab which came late to pick us up and the driver drove like maniac and than we had to put up with this doctors attitude and rudeness. I explained to him she speaks english perfectly but dont use hard vocabulary as she is on medications(hydromorphine) and gets confused and slow a bit BUT he just turned around and refused to see her! In 5 Minutes he closed his office and took off! SO basically he had other plans previously arranged and had no intention in the 1st place to look after her. There was an RMT next door to him and saw how much my wife was suffering and what happpened and could not believe it. He NEEDS to be seen by Physciatist!

If your insurer sends you to Dr. Debow for assessment, I strongly recommend that you request a physician with more up-to-date training. His training was in the 1960s. You will feel as if you are in a time warp.
