Dr. Checketts has been my parents Physician for 15 yrs. My parents are in their 80's. I had high hopes he could provide excellent care and continuity for them. I have difficulty getting prescriptions renewed for them, getting a nurse to return a call within 24 hrs. As stated by other raters, I wait in waiting room unusually long. Dr. does not address all the issues you have come for, leaving you to call back to see what he is going to do. My father had edema in his calves and feet for 3-4 yrs. no work up to see why. My father said he pinched his feet and said "I like that you are wearing pressure socks". No diuretic given him. He began to get sores from edema bursting his skin--acute cellulitis due to lack of response. I had to take him to emergency room to rule out blots, cardiac failure, etc. When he is gone or out of the office , there is no one to cover for him, no dr. On call, no way to get hold of him. Secretary has taken messages and misplaced my phone number, leaving dr. To reply with a message with another family member 80 miles away, and leaving a prescription phoned in to a pharmacy 80 miles away. Tanner Clinic has had my phone on record for my parents for 3 years. And now they can't find a secretary's post it note? We are discontinuing our association with Dr. Checketts because, as my brother has stated, he is "inept".

I know Dr. Checketts personally from family and Church associations, but, unfortunately, I cannot recommend him as a physician. I find it impossible to communicate with him unless you schedule an appointment. His phone message States, "We are not in the office. Please do not leave a message. There will be no one here to listen to your message. No one will return your call." At an appointment, he may or may not be communicative with patients depending on his mood at the time. His medical assistant has severe communication problems and is very defensive and in a state of denial regarding any complaints or suggestions a patient might voice. If a patient shares any of these concerns with him, he becomes defensive and is as likely to terminate your relationship as a patient before questioning the competency of his medical assistant and team. Like other comments below, I have experienced issues with the sounds of jocularity in the halls while waiting for an appointment. I had an 10:15 AM appointment and did not see Doctor Checketts until 11:40 a.m. I will never seek "services" from Doctor Checketts again. Extremely dysfunctional, arrogant, and noncommunicative. Schedule at your own risk.

I recently waited 1 hr. and 20 min. for my appointment for which I was on time. As I waited, a pharm. rep. came in with two large bags of food. I'm fairly sure that my wait was because dr. and staff were eating lunch since I could hear a woman thanking someone for the lunch. The actual visit with the dr. took less than 10 minutes.

I like Dr Checketts. He and his staff are all ways in a good and helpful mood. I would recommend him to anyone in need of an internist.

Saw the nurse more than him. He spends more time with drug reps bringing him fruit smoothies than with patients. Last time I went to see him I spoke to the nurse the whole time. When she left I waitted he walked in holding my chart didn't even look at me and handed me a perscription then walked out. I didn't even fill the perscription because the pharmacy said they don't have a generic version and my insurance wouldn't cover it.

Doctor very unhelpful and is downright rude. Has severe anger issues. Would not trust a loved one in his hands.
