I saw Dr. Daniel Thompson for pain. I was given meds, an MRI, and referred to a pain specialist. Elena Wornom & Hannah Segal said I’d need MRI images for the specialist, but I hadn’t been given any. I had intense pain and couldn’t shovel out my car to get them. OrthoVirginia has a copy so I messaged Wornom & Segal to share the images with the specialist. No one answered. It’s been 3 months and they still haven’t.

The specialist said it was OK but not optimal to do the procedure w/o images so it was done under sub-optimal conditions. I complained to Heather Witherspoon in Patient Relations. She didn’t reply. I sent a follow-up. She didn’t reply. I called. No answer.

I wrote a letter to Dr. Thompson addressing these and other concerns. No reply. Edna Padilla, Manager, left a voicemail. I texted back saying I wanted to talk by text or email bec. I have chronic laryngitis making it difficult & painful to speak. Padilla didn’t respond. I texted again. She didn’t answer. I contacted her through Facebook & LinkedIn, and sent a personal letter, but she hasn’t responded.

OrthoVirginia is unwilling to accommodate my medical condition. This is appalling. And they’re only willing to talk on the phone. Clearly, they don’t want a record of our conversation. I’ve had intense pain for 6 months but OrthoVirginia still hasn’t sent the CD or shared images with the specialist. I haven’t heard back from Wornom, Segal, Witherspoon, Thompson or Padilla.

Moreover, a very aggressive, COVID-unsafe staff member was sexting in the lobby for 10-15 minutes. There's not space here to address all the problems with OrthoVirginia. The place is a mess. An unprofessional, unethical, patient-hating mess.

I feel like he don't care to much how his patients feel. He rushes threw his visit and don't listen to no concerns about anything. I will never go back there again.

Dr. Thompson repaired my torn meniscus. He was professional, knowledgeable, and warm. Dr. Thompson was also incredibly patient: I had a ton of questions for him and he took the time to answer them all using plain, easy-to-understand language. Dr. Thompson struck me as not being the kind of surgeon who sees surgery as the fix to all problems: prior to a diagnosis of a meniscus tear, physical therapy was discussed as a possible solution. And, even when it was clear I had a meniscus tear, Dr. Thompson made it clear that I didn't need to have the surgery (but that I would likely be better off if I did). In the end, I did have surgery and both leading up to it and after Dr. Thompson made himself available to me if I had any questions or concerns. I found him to be an excellent doctor and would highly recommend him!

Dr Thompson is great- his explanation of my diagnosis made sense. He called me after my surgery just to see how I was doing. I would recommend him to my friends and family.

Dr Thompson replaced my ACL and repaired my meniscus in 2012. During the ACL repair the wrong size ACL was picked (cadaver) so I had to have a tunnel drilled and stapled to hold the excess. That surgery was successful though. The meniscus was repaired at the same time. I went through PT and did all that I was told. He told me that at 3 months I would feel great, but I didn't. When I told him he replied that I wasn't 16 any more. I went back several other times complaining about the pain, he would check my ACL and tell me I was fine. After 2 years I went to another surgeon. I wasn't fine. The meniscus repair had not taken and it took extensive work in another surgery to fix it. I understand that things can go wrong, I don't appreciate being told nothing is wrong without further investigation. If he had listened and done another MRI he would have seen that follow up work was needed.
