Do not let this man operate on you. had a tendon transfer surgery almost 3 years ago. Dr. and staff gave medication during surgery i clearly stated i was allergic to, even noted on my health history, discussed it at pre-op. I now have nerve damage and cronic regional pain syndrome, tachycardia, and numerous other complications from their actions. I went from a woman that took zero medications to someone that is now on 5 different medications just to get thru the day..... Would give 0 stars.

I tend to develop knuckle pads due to Dupotren's. I have had two prior surgeries for this problem by different surgeons. The first surgery went well, but the knuckle pad returned within two months. The second surgery (same knuckle) left me with swelling and pain and limited flexibility, despite three months of PT. When another knuckle developed a knuckle pad, I decided to see Dr. Desai. What a difference!!! Surgery went well, very little post-op discomfort, NO swelling, and within one month no one could tell which finger had been operated on. Home exercises for a month and this finger has more flexibility that the other finger operated on 8years ago. While I hope this will be the last time, it is very likely that I will continue to develop these things. I will NEVER go to anyone but Dr. Desai for anything to do with my hands and wrists.

I have severe RA and fell and shattered my elbow. It was a messy fracture. Dr. Desai was brought in as a renowned specialist. His bedside manner was great and he explained the procedure in such a way that I could understand. After only three months, and with PT and exercises at home, I have regained much of my strength in my arm and hand. The replacement is in tack and healing nicely. I have full range of motion and am working toward stability. I can for the most part put my makeup on, do my hair and many of the things I did prior to the fall. The break certainly had an impact on the pain after the replacement, but having RA I am used to working through pain and pushing forward. I am absolutely thankful for the skillful hands of Dr. Desai and I am thankful for the progress to date.

I tramaticalliy injured my middle fingernail while working to build raised garden beds. After a trip to the emergency room I saw Dr Desai the next day. What a great doctor with excellent bedside manner skills. He accurately discussed the injury to the nail bed and what to expect as it healed. He then had the hand therapy group build me a special splint to protect the exposed nail bed. I found Dr Desai and his staff to be extremely caring, pleasant, professional, and knowledgeable . My girlfriend has worked with Dr Desai for many years in the operating room. He came highly recommended by her and Dr Desai exceeded my expectations. Rate MD,s dot com needs a way to separate fact from fictitious, slanderous reviews of individuals with axes to grind. Potential ways to do this are willingness to have your comments attributable, public records that are assessable ( for example board of medicine filings and reports, lawsuits that are filed that are public record, and just good old fact checking. To many individuals these days especially when they can enter into non attributable websites and forums are influencing the potential patient outcomes of good doctors.

I lost feeling in my right hand due to a nerve injury from a dog bite. I was just starting a career in healthcare and was incredibly worried about my injury and recovery. Dr. Desai operated on my hand and restored full feeling and function. He has a kind and professional bedside manner, a wonderful, friendly staff, and I would recommend him to anyone needing hand surgery.

I have been an O.R. Nurse for 27 years, so when my mother fell while taking care of my Grandma in her nursing home room and broke her hand....their was only one Doctor I would call! Dr.Desai is the best hand surgeon I have ever had the chance to work with. He is very demanding of the staff and expects the best from those doing his cases. His only concern is getting the best result for his patient. My mom was 87 when she underwent surgery. She never had a bit of trouble and healed quickly. Never once did she say her hand bothered her. She loved Dr. Desai and his N.P. who assists him. All follow up care and PT were arranged by his staff and easy to get to. I recommend Dr. Desai as highly as possible. If you or someone in your family hurt your hand, go see him.

Dr. Desai is a wonderful hand surgeon and doctor in the Richmond area. I went to Dr. Desai for elbow pain and ended up being tennis elbow. Instead of a quick fix with surgery Dr. Desai performed conservative measures and follow up to his treatment. I am very fortunate to have found Dr. Desai, he is a wonderful doctor that is very knowledgeable and kind. I would recommend Dr. Desai to anyone especially family if there is a health concern with any upper extremity.

I was fortunate to had Dr. Desai perform both of my endoscopic carpal tunnel release surgeries. My carpal tunnel had advanced to the point that I required splints twenty-four hours a day. I had tried injections, medications, prolonged rest, and exercises to no avail. I found my self shaking my hands constantly to try to relieve my symptoms. I was not able to sign my name without pausing to shake my hands and my grip strength was deteriorating. Needless to say, I was very hesitant to undergo surgery out of fear that complications would rob me of usage of my hands. Dr. Desai immediately understood the hardships I was facing and put my mind to ease. He was more than willing to answer my questions and hear my concerns. The staff coordinating my surgeries were professional, friendly and compassionate.

Nothing prepared me for the extraordinary results of my surgeries. As cliche as it may sound, Dr. Desai gave me my hands back. I am able to function without pain or discomfort of any kind. I am able to write and draw again. I no longer have to strap itchy, uncomfortable splints to my wrists. I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Desai and his staff. They gave me my life back.

I met Dr. Desai in 2009, I had carpel tunnel in both wrist. It was effecting my whole life in a bad way. Dr. Desai and his staff took the time with me I needed to understand what was happening to me, I felt completely at ease and in very good hands. I had surgery on both wrists and one elbow, the pain was gone and still is. I have every confidence in Dr. Desai and his staff, so when I injured my right wrist in an accident, after one Dr. Told me it was just bruised , waited a month, went to see Dr. Desai, it's only been a few, my wrist is improving , hopefully no surgery is going to be needed, but if it is I know I will be in great hands with Dr. Desai and his team. I would and do recommend them to anyone with hand and wrist problems.
