Dr. Hii called me for a phone consultation and was extremely rude, pushy, and unhelpful. I told him I wouldn't be able to know exactly which vaccines I'd need for a couple days, yet he kept insisting I come to see him the next day AND kept pushing vaccines on me that I repeatedly said I wasn't sure I even needed yet.
I was given no time to process anything, he offered no compassion or patience, and he essentially used the scam tactic of creating a sense of urgency so you feel the need to just say yes to everything. I understand that he must be busy, but I felt like I was being steamrolled and taken for a ride. We were partway through booking the appointment but I kept having a bad feeling because I really didn't like how rushed, uninvolved, and uninformed I felt throughout the call. I kindly told him I would rather just wait until I received the info I needed to know exactly which vaccines I'd need (I would've said it earlier had I been given a chance to think or speak) and apologized, to which he curtly replied, "Yeah, you should be. You're just taking up my time". It was just generally such an unpleasant experience, and his complete lack of etiquette only reassured me that I made the right decision in not going to see him.

We went to visit Dr Hi when our long time travel medicine doctor retired.

I cannot understand the negative reviews that I saw on this site. I am wondering if they are fake because the negative reviews in no way resemble our experience. There are also some 5 star reviews on the site that we heartily agree with

Dr Hi was very knowledgeable. He took a great deal of time with my husband and me as new patients. He answered all of our questions and made sure that we had everything that we needed for our upcoming visits to Africa.
We were particularly pleased to be able to get our Yellow fever vaccine boosters. The vaccine was in scarce supply but we were able to get it.

I’ve been going to Dr. Hii for over 8 years now for all my travel advice and vaccinations and have always found him very knowledgeable. I don’t find his fees overly high and my insurance benefits have always fully reimbursed me. Linda, his assistant, is fantastic and his nurse is also great.

I've been going to Dr. Hii for almost 3 years now, prior to several trips and can honestly say I actually look forward to my appointments with him. What makes Dr. Hii great is that he's a traveller himself, so he's pragmatic and works with your needs and budget - and also gives great travel advice. He keeps up to date on best practices and the latest research (not just the "standard protocols"), is thorough both in his consultations but also in explaining why and how vaccines and drugs are being administered. There are postcards from clients all over the office. I don't know about you, but I don't know the last time I sent a postcard to anyone, let alone my doctor. It's a testament to the great care and service the entire team provides. I've referred several friends here and they've all had the same experience.

They tend to be really flexible with scheduling knowing that travel plans are often less flexible and in one case he came into the office on a day he wasn't planning on being there so that I could get a final vaccine. He's also always super grateful when I show up early (and will tell me so repeatedly) because in this day and age, some people seem to think their time is worth more than someone else's :)

DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC. I am appalled Dr. Hii is still practising. The reviews speak for themselves - I would give this negative stars if I could.

My experience with this clinic was horrific. I left speechless, as I was emotionally and physical abused. Hii was unprofessional, rough and impolite and made it clear that somehow his time, as a family practise doctor, was more important than mine, as he “had an appointment” at 2PM. If you are going to skip work early, change your hours and don’t penalise your patients.

He literally saw me as quickly as possible, without taking the time to ask the pertinent questions for my travels. His boorish attitude and condescending tone when taking my past medical history made me regret coming here instantly. Furthermore, when administering what I hope was Imovax, the rabies vaccine, he insisted on giving me 2 x 1.0mL instead of the 1 x 1.0mL which is the gold standard.

The redeeming factor? His staff; the receptionist and nurse. I honestly don’t know how they manage to endure him on daily basis.

Hii, thank you for teaching me how to NOT be physician. Your lack of professionalism and bedside manners made it clear that you did not choose the right profession.

Oh, and be ready for a call from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. I would prepare my testimony if I were you.

Are zero stars an option? Dr. Hii not only overcharges, he is absolutely IRRESPONSIBLE and should be stripped of his license. He gave me a Yellow Fever vaccine for a trip to a country where I later learned it was not needed. Not only that, I have a medical condition that forbids me from getting this vaccine. I did not know at the time that I should not be getting the (Yellow Fever) vaccine and trusted the medical advice I was being given. At the time, I expressed concern about getting the flu vaccine and he told me he could give me a "safer" flu vaccine for which he charged me $60. In addition to unnecessary vaccines, he also overcharges for his consult and even charges administration and photocopy fees!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLINIC!!!

I agree that he is rude (he berated me for “interrupting him” and also berated his staff in front of me) but I think his knowledge and injection techniques are superior to other travel clinics. So even if I have to deal with his terrible bedside manner, I would go to him for my health.
