Dr. Van den Berg, was my Endocrinologists in Victoria, British Columbia . They were fantastic, listened, explained information & results clearly precisely. Extremely knowledgeable. Was able to find and treat issues I was having as an individual unique to me, not as a broad general statement example “that isn’t used for xyz, or this is the only thing that treats that” Dr Van den Berg looked at my history and what has worked what hadn’t . Even when I wasn’t sure to try something, they explained why it was worth trying.. I was hesitant, But I did try and it worked and has been working. Thank you DR. van den berg for treating me as an individual human with its own physical unique mental physical chemical, biological, hormonal system.
I had a great brilliant Dr for years.. Dr David Barry who treated everyone as individuals as well and Dr Van den Berg is brilliant that way too.
This Rating I should have done along time ago. Unfortunately DR Van den Berg has retired. - If you get the chance to work with her great assistant Destiny (MOA) you are also very lucky Destiny is incredible! Destiny’s memory, organization, polite, clear, kind, understanding, sharp and efficiency is rare.
I miss them both - and hope her referral to be transferred to another Endocrinologists will be picked up in victoria and that hopefully is as brilliant as Dr. Van den Berg.

she refused to treat me without a psychological assessment even though i've been on hormones for years. old-school transphobic behaviour, genuinely not cool. got help from Dr. Marshall Dahl instead and he was awesome!

Love this doctor. She is always friendly and helpful. Her MOA is friendly as well always has a smile. My daughter accompanies me and if she has any concerns she takes time to answer her concerns. Would highly recommend her.

Went to see her for possible additional rheumatoid treatments but she was only interested in diagnosing cases of depression due to low vitamin D levels.

I'm confused. One plus point: I missed a video call appointment, and Dr. was kind enough to phone call and still make the appointment. But after that everything went down the drain. She asked me to get the blood work done to review the results together. That made sense. But after 2-3 weeks, when I got back to get the appointment, the secretary told me that the Dr. was on leave until February 2023. So from December to February, she is gone without information, and I am stuck with her till she returns? What a hassle! Why didn't she tell me in the first appointment that get the blood work done fast before this-this date, or else you would have to wait for 2 and a half months?
Secretary is another drama. She does not set up appointments through emails even though we sent her all options, times, and dates. We HAVE to phone call to set up an appointment. What age are we living in? 19th century?
Also, they need a referral every 6 months. I had the appointment just 2-3 weeks ago after getting a fresh referral, and now the secretary wants me to get another referral because she doesn't have a "Referral Letter" for me. What? If there was no referral, how did the Dr. meet me 2-3 weeks ago? And how does that referral not suffice for the referral letter that is needed now? I am so confused.
As I read in other reviews, the Dr. "does" have some attitude, and the secretary has a double attitude than the Doctor. I am totally put off by this group, and I am not feeling supported or cared for well here with this Dr and his team. It's a shame.

Dr Van Den Berg saw me after I was trying to conceive for 4 years. I had been complaining of hypothyroid symptoms for manyvyears with 8+ TSH labs pulled. She did not pull T4 or perform any further investigations on my thyroid. She abruptly sent me on my way, despite me indicating that I still have hypothyroid symptoms after being given a low dose of Synthroid.

After paying for my own lab work through Lifelabs, I confirmed my T4 is very low, despite a normal TSH value. This is indicative of a pituitary deficiency causing secondary hypothyroidism. She missed it and I lost another year trying to conceive.

I contacted the office and the receptionist was very rude. I was understandably a little excited/worked up and was even more disappointed when they told me to re-refer. Getting into a doctor is hard enough. I have a time sensitive issue, effecting my entire life trajectory, that is likely being affected by a serious health issue she neglected to find.
