My family and I went to her for years until we moved and found a new doctor did we realize she lack the care to properly diagnose and treat patients. You get the same generic answered and treatments. My mother had to visit her recently since she was the only one available and diagnosis her without any testing. Thankful my mother was able to schedule an appointment with her regular doctor, who got her to do lab testing where the results showed opposite of what Dr. Chan said was the issue. Would not recommend.

She will see you on the spot and she doesn't rush you out of the office. She listens to you and works on your treatment along side with you.

Only doctor in the area that had walk-in open. Its completely disappointing that all these medical clinics and family doctors in East-Van are online/phone consultation only. Might as well make paramedics online only at this point. She gets 5 stars all the way

Dr. Irene Chan has been my doctor for many years. I have always found her to be very professional and informed on current medical treatments.
Dr. Chan has always promptly scheduled me for required medical tests , and
she has also been able to schedule medical specialists rapidly for me.
I have always found her very knowledgeable and accommodating.
I have learnt, to bring in notes of my condition anytime I see a Doctor these days. Most doctor visits can be short, and it can be difficult to voice all the symptoms and concerns during an appointment.
I also find Helen (receptionist) professional and courteous.

As long as you don’t wish to have your health appropriately monitored or health complaints investigated, Dr. Chan is great. However, she missed years of severely declining health, reaching instead for easy, stereotypical answers, instead of acting on my actual symptoms.

Dr. Chan is very knowledgeable and straight to the point. While other family dr. require you to book an a appointment a few days or even 2 weeks ahead, Dr. Chan can always see you on the day you call in. This could also be her downfall because if you’re looking for a dr that will listen to you talk about life for 30mins... well... she will give you 10mins. That’s what I love about dr. Chan. She’s straight to the point, I grab what I need and leave. I never have to linger around the waiting area for more than 5mins because the previous pt won’t stop talking.

Despite many negative comments about this family doctor and her secretary, I have to come to their defence.
Dr. Irene Chan has been my doctor for nearly 20 long years, and Helen has been her long-time secretary. I have always found Dr. Chan to be very punctual, easy-going, helpful and knowledgeable. Though she can be quite brief, yet she is sharp and to the point. She is very accommodating to patients' needs too.
Helen is pleasant, courteous and professional. I like dealing with her a lot.
I simply find it very comfortable and amicable visiting this medical practice!

Dr Chen is very knowledgeable and helpful. She determined the cause of the illness very quickly, and helped with my grandma's recovery. I highly recommend her.
