STAY AWAY! Appointment with Dr. Stephane Kaliner for a yearly physical. During the physical Dr. Kaliner asked me general health related questions any person should expect during a routine physical.
When I received the itemized bill, I noticed that not only was I charged for the physical, but also a separate medical visit. Nearly 600$ for an unimpressive 10 minute appointment.
When I called Tower Health (billing) to question the charges (my employer covers physicals 100%) and my balance of 61$, I was told that because Dr. Kaliner ASKED me questions that she and her office believed not to be physical related questions, I was charged for the physical and an additional visit.
During the conversation to dispute, I asked the representative from Tower Health billing “should I have ignored her questions?? Not answer?” I was told “YES”!
As a patient, how/ why should I be responsible to know any of this? The difference of questions?! My appointment was on 1/10/22 I just learned yesterday 4/13/22 that my dispute was denied and I am responsible for the 61$. If I don’t pay, a Tower Health rep. told me bill will be sent to a 3rd party collection agency. When I asked to speak to someone at the location where disputes are decided, a supervisor told me there is no phone number and that my only option was to submit an email.
If you’re reading this, FIND A DIFFERENT OPTION. “Dr.” Kaliner in my opinion was unimpressive. She and the staff at her office knowingly entered information into their system that would generate 2 separate charges. I believe we deserve better as patients. This is not only fraudulent, but an absolute disgrace.
I will be contacting/ working with my employer, insurance company, etc. to resolve the situation.
If you have read all of this, then you’re like me, someone who does their best to research decisions. Especially something as important like a doctor.
Dr Kaliner, Tower Health, and all involved - shame on all of you for taking advantage of a patient in the community you serve
