Amazing surgeon...has been my surgeon for 3 years now and on going.
I had quite a hard time after a surgery in right shoulder I had done by Dr. Old. I do not know if he ever knew of my calls. The pain after the surgery was managed with tylenol 3 as if it was the only pain killer available. The person who phoned be back one week after surgery, says to me what do you want me to do? in a short, unkind way when I was trying to explain I was in so much pain. The most difficult recovery after any surgery I have ever had. I tried to call his office after the three months follow up and I phoned 2 twice after that and his assistant never even had the courtesy to tell me I was discharged and had no business to phone again. It is important to have good support after a surgery. This has not been my case at Panam Clinic
Dr. Old performed surgeries on both my shoulders. One was for a labrum tear, the other for rotator cuff. Both surgeries were successful. No complications. He explained the surgeries in detail. Referral to physiotherapy was taken care of by his assistant and everything went smoothly. Dr. Old is professional and knowledgeable. He's also pleasant , caring, and down to earth. His office assistant Susan is pleasant, efficient and helpful. No complaints. My shoulders feel much better and I have more function to do the activities I love.
Dr. Old has performed left and right shoulder replacements for me over the last three years. Everything went like clockwork from surgery to physio and I have been lucky enough to have almost perfect mobility in both. I am in my seventies so did not expect this. Thank You so much for your patience and surgical abilities! Staff was great too , at the office and at Concordia Hospital. S.Short
I had shoulder in 2009 with zero complications. If not for the tiny scars I'd have a difficult time telling you which shoulder I had the surgery on. 100% recovery
Over two & one half years ago I had multiple rotator cuff muscle tears and a tear of the long head bicep tendon. Once an MRI determined the extent of the damage I was referred to Dr. Old and when I finally got in to see him he fully explained the procedure he would do to repair this and the rehabilitation protocol required. Once the surgery was complete the first week of recovery was as painful if not more than I expected from a surgery this involved. After three weeks I Dr. Old's office arranged rehab for me which with the help of the Physiotherapists, went very well however as expected, very slow. I followed the rehabilitation instructions exactly and had several follow ups with Dr. Old. The surgery was top notch, the rehabilitation at SOGH was top notch and now at 55 years old my shoulder is as good if not better than before. I've even just successfully graded to a green belt in Mixed Martial Arts which I would of never believed I could have done before the surgery repair of my shoulder.
Dr. Old did a total shoulder replacement in nov. 2014 The results were outstanding I have no restrictions on movement and healed quite rapidly. Very professional his staff were excellent, prompt and very accommodating . Susan i would like to give you a special thank you and to Dr. Old for the fantastic job you have done. Thank you very much. Dr Old did left then right rotator repairs for me, the left failed as he was the second surgeon to attempt the repair, their was to much total damage. The right is doing well, I expect a full recovery!
I had a total shoulder replacement by Dr. Old and honestly don't have a single complaint with either Dr. Old or his staff. It is not too often that you will find a doctor who has the bed side manner to match that of Dr. Old. Pleasant, professional and he took the time to reassure me that a positive outcome was very likely...and it was. I would highly recommend Dr. Old to anyone.
Dr. Old is a very competent and skilled surgeon. The damage to my shoulder was quite severe & included the Subscapularis, Supraspinatus & LHBT. He discussed the procedure and outcome expectations prior to the surgery and I was able to request, and he performed a slightly more complicated Tenodesis for the LBHT rather than a simple Tenotomy. The five incision sites are barely visible. The staff were all very professional and caring and during my 5th week follow up after surgery, referral to rehabilitation services was taken care of by his staff for me. I have since been back to see him for my three month follow up and he checked my progress and offered support and insight into the expected outcome in the next six to nine months of rehabilitation. I am happy with the work he performed, my recovery thus far and all the support staff. I feel Doctor Jason Old is one of the best orthopedic surgeons in Manitoba and I would definitely recommend him for shoulder surgery.
