A cosmetic surgeon specializes in surgical procedures for aesthetic purposes such as eliminating signs of aging and changing one’s appearance. While cosmetic surgery is self-voluntary, reconstructive surgery is performed to reconstruct or repair function in various parts of the body after illness or injury. Reasons for a patient electing to undergo cosmetic surgery or requiring a type of reconstructive surgery can be physical including suffering an injury as a result of an accident, burns, scarring, birth defects, excess skin due to extreme weight loss, or body dysmorphic disorder.

They work with and provide combined treatment in conjunction with Family Doctors / General Practitioners, Anesthesiologists, Bariatric/Weight Loss Specialists, Dermatologists, and General Surgeons to name a few.
