I am really appreciative of how thorough, kind and helpful Lori Johnson was. She is phenomenal, she went above and beyond. RN came and spoke in great detail and was so helpful and clear. Bria & Sandra were excellent. They were so kind and took great care of me. I enjoyed my stay, it was peaceful and most tried to make my stay as pleasant as they could. My view was nice and I wasn’t bothered. E. Tucker

Thomas is a lung cancer survivor who has enjoyed a normal life after having gone through medical and surgical procedures many years ago. Earlier in the year he began to develop a persistent cough and started t feel progressively more winded every time he would walk. When Thomas saw his physician he was directed to Kindred Hospital Tarrant County - Arlington and enrolled in the outpatient pulmonary program to stabilize his breathing and strengthen his lungs. Highly motivated from the beginning, Thomas began to make progress with his therapy, training and education and was an inspiration to other patients in his group. Over the course of his 12 week program Thomas became stronger and regained the ability to walk further without getting winded, his overall breathing improved as well and he was able to be discharged to continue to practice his therapies at home. “The most outstanding aspect of this program for he was learning to breathe properly,” Thomas shared before he lift Kindred one last time. “Everything I’ve learned about how to manage my lung condition at home is incredibly helpful and gives me much more peace of mind. Now I know how to control my breathing.”

arcy lived at home and enjoyed volunteer work, helping out at her church and caring for her grandson. When her son noticed that she was acting differently and didn’t seem herself she was taken to the hospital and found to have suffered up to three strokes that brought on acute respiratory failure. Marcy was placed on a ventilator and her physicians started her on medication to stabilize her condition. When Marcy was stable enough to be transferred she was brought to Kindred Hospital Tarrant County - Arlington to receive respiratory therapy and rehabilitation so that she could regain her independence and return home and to a normal life. When she first arrived Marcy was weak and still dependent on the ventilator, a feeding tube for nutrition, an on her caregivers for all her needs. Her respiratory team immediately began pulmonary therapy to strengthen her lungs and enable her to breathe without assistance. Marcy started to make progress almost immediately and not long after being admitted was able to be successfully weaned from the machine, requiring only supplemental oxygen in small amounts until she was able to breathe freely with out assistance. She was able to begin taking in liquids and food once her speech pathologist helped her relearn how to swallow and started to make progress with her physical and occupational therapists before she was discharged to continue on here journey to recor=very. “Dr.Austin was wonderful and di a fre job,”. Marcy expressed before she was discharged. My nurses, respiratory team and physical therapists also worked wonders - “even though I’m stubborn”

When Eric was unable to breathe he was rushed to the ER where phyiscians placed him on a ventilator and stabilized his condition. Multiple attempts to free Eric from mechanical breathing were unsuccessful. Eric received a feeding tube and was then transferred to Kindred Hospital Tarrant County - Arlington for respiratory therapy and rehabilitation. Eric's respiratory therapists immediately began to work with him to strengthen his lungs and he responded quickly. In just a matter of days Eric was able to breathe on his own without the ventilator. And then shortly after he had the breathing tube removed. Eric then was helped by his speech pathologist and was cleared to start to eat and drink normally again, liberating him from the feeding tube as well. Eric continued to make progress in other areas too, working with his physical and occupational therapists to regain his strength and mobility and the ability to care for his daily needs. His team of caregivers added to Eric's positive and motivated attitude through encouragement and celebrating each milestone in his recovery. "Kindred is the best place for recovery," Eric shared before he was discharged to continue on his journey toward wellness

This is not our first rodeo. During the past year my wife has needed acute rehabilitation care four times. The first two were not good experiences but the third time was a charm. We selected kindred Hospital Arlington. The staff and the doctors are wonderful not only did they provide excellent care for my wife but they were very attentive to the family members and myself. The therapist PT, OT, and RT are patient, professional and thorough in the daily sessions and even trained me regarding assistance at home since going home is our rehab “goal”. Many thanks from both of us to all the Kindred staff including housekeeping which is very important to my picket wife!!! 😀 Thank you everyone at Kindred Arlington!!!! Sid & Sue
