I had a fracture that was completely mismanaged, as in not managed at all, by St. Joseph's hospital. The student and supervisor failed to see that the joint was involved in my fracture and sent me home without treatment. It has now been 5 weeks and it will take another 8 weeks before my fracture is healed. Had St. Joseph's properly managed my fracture, I would have been back to sports by next week. I am very upset and may now have lifelong complications due to this mistake.

I would never return to this hospital. Doctors evaluate patients without seeing them.. Very amoral. Careless errors and incompetencies all over this place. would never get surgery there. Keep driving until the next hospital unless bleeding to death and won't make it to the next one.

I was treated like garbage in emerge lastv coming in last fall with severe bronchitis and and asthma I near died. ER nurses took hours to tend to me. Treated me as though I was inhuman I was having serious trouble breaking and my inhalers not work for me anymore. I was chokin g almost to death. Other patients alerted staff of thecseriosness of my condition. They proceeded insinuating that I was overeacting and that they were busy. I thought I was going to die and patients in waiting RM were in disbelief. They they rudely raised their voices in a hrsh temnding I walk across the room to the wheelchair. They bombarded my with questions and expted me to answer back intend of following proper procedure. After a couple of minutes they put an oxygen ventslin mask on me which didn't fit my face a let falling of and also wasn't working. They contued being rude due my ask for my health needs to be met. I was after left in a RM for hours an hours and then asked again what my problem was by another nurse males and felaes. The guy then returned after he making a spectacle anfinallly prescribed me new prescription that worked finally. I really dislike this hospital and would advise the new humber km

absolutely disgusting. lack of universal infection control. saw 1 cleaner while I was there and all the person was doing was emptying garbage cans where the staff were. No others. You ought to close down before you are responsible for spreading C.dif etc. all over the hospital. or perhaps it already is and you don't care any more.

29 weeks pregnant and felt dizzy in the shower. Called my hospital triage (another hospital close to family) and said to go into emergency as a precaution close to home. St Joe's is 5 minutes away. The wait was normal based on emergency. I actually got really thorough service and the doctor and nurse took all precautions. Did very thorough tests. The doctors bed side manner was also great and he showed he cared. He even apologized for the wait. I used to live in the Suburbs and most hospitals I've been to are new and clean. The down side to this hospital in the emergency section anyways was the appearance and cleanliness of the hospital (very outdated and dirty feeling), the 2nd wait room needs to be more private and not be in same area as people on stretchers and lying in the hallways. The approach to see the doctor is good but then you have to wait again if you need tests done. I'm also not used to all the random people that come in. A few homeless and people with addiction were in the night I was there. Some real talkers as well that they needed to be escorted out. It wasn't a comforting, welcoming feeling in this hospital. More than I'm used to seeing. I'm glad all people are getting care. With some major upgrades and a more fluid emergency centre (separating waiting area and expanding it bigger from the curtain and stretcher area and x-ray area) more staff and extra exam rooms this could be a great hospital. I was just grateful I had a great doctor. The doctor assistant and nurse was nice to me too but i did see some nurses talk rude with patients in pain. Sign in registration admin and triage nurse was quick and efficient. I was there at midnight and left at 330 am. The only other complaint is that it would've been nice for an OB to check on my baby. The nurse mentioned that she was surprised that I wasn't sent to the 2nd floor to get seen by an OB on call as well. Luckily the emergency doctor was great. Great doctor experience but hospital overall could use alot of work.

Unbelievably disgraceful emergency department. Physical surroundings dilapidated and filthy. Far too many patients and far too few doctors. Waited over 8 hours and got absolutely nowhere. No privacy or respect for patients: two curtained-off beds sitting in the middle of the place so everybody sitting waiting could hear every word. People throwing up. People lying on the floor. People leaving in disgust. People crying from pain and frustration. Reminded me of *MASH* without the comedy. This is a very badly managed place; other hospitals are not like this! Fix it or shut it down, because to leave it in its present state should not be an option.

Do not go to this hospital, unless you have a death wish. The worst hospital in Toronto.

Terrible hospital. Expect to wait at least 16 hours to get any diagnosis. Went there 7 times in one month they ran the same stupid urine and xray test with no diagnosis and just send me home with psin meds. Two months later im still in pain and no diagnosis. If you want pain meds but no diagnosis, and wait 15 hours then this is hospital to go to. Nurses stand around doing nothing besides making themselves useful. After being discharged I had to wait 2 hours of beggingvto get the IV out so I could go home so I had to remove it myself and squirt blood everywhere. They also lie and about how they cant do xrays after 10pm which is a lie because you can clearly see patients going in and out of the xray room all night long. They also have no beds. People are usually sleeping on the floors when there arent enough chairs. Totally insane!

In general, we have only had the most positive experiences with this hospital, the physicians, and staff. I have always made my admiration for this hospital and staff well known. With the exception of an incident that happened at the Just for Kids walk in yesterday, August 9, 2016. My husband took my son in to the Just for kids clinic walk in following a visit to the ER over the weekend. The ER ran blood work that showed lower than expected levels of hemoglobin - amongst other things. The ER doctor said we could follow up if we wished to do so. On an unrelated visit to the pediatric asthma clinic, the doctor who was assessing my son for his asthma symptom - a pre scheduled appointment - got to talking with my husband. And they discussed the ER visit and the blood work. The doctor did an initial glance at it and said it would be advisable for us to get to the bottom of why the hemoglobin was lower than expected - and went out of her way to try and get us a same day appointment at the Just for Kids clinic. She couldn't - but suggested we should come back. My husband took my son in on Tuesday, August 9 to the Just for Kids walk in clinic - took a number and waited his turn. Immediately, upon being called into the room, the attending pediatrician on that day - yelled and berated him for abusing the system. And kept asking Why are you here? Yelling, you shouldn't be here. Slapping the blood report on the table. When my husband explained the situation, the attending pediatrician, said that his colleague in the asthma clinic didn't know what she was talking about and that my husband's story sounded very dubious. I will not name the pediatrician publicly at this point - because I will be making a formal complain to the CPSO. I have reached out to the Patient Relations Manager - and am waiting to hear from her before proceeding to the CPSO. My point is, as self employed people, if we don't work, we don't get paid. We don't want to voluntarily take time off work to visit the hospital. If we are there, it is for a reason. All doctors at the very least owe it to their patients to listen to why they are there - and not keep cutting them off. We swiped our health card - that means you got paid. If you got paid, you need to provide the service - at the very least, listen. If you don't, that means you are the one abusing the system - and not us, as you claimed. Inspite of this incident, I will rate this location highly - solely for the other experiences we have had at this hospital - and the other physicians who are much much better - than the one in question.

My father has been having the signs of stroke for more than 24 hours and we stayed in the ER for more than 12 hours. We were then able to speak to a neurologist and even he said we should have been admitted long time ago. After that, we STILL have not been admitted. My father has been walking around the hospital, no one offered a wheelchair. Everyone was too busy to speak to me in the ER. Overall, a horrible experience.
