We took our 8 day old baby to sick kids. My labour was tough and we were noticing odd behaviours - rapid breathing, rolling eyes. We arrived at 10pm and saw a doctor the following morning at 9am. The waiting room was full of parents and kids who had been there for 18hours. We were lucky to have been given a room..that had one chair in it. At 3am my husband had to go home because he was standing. I’ve never had to dig so deep emotionally and physically like that in my whole life. I sat upright with a careful eye on my baby for 11 hours, passing out and waking up with a fright out of pure exhaustion. The doctor there told me the hospitals are struggling and something fundamental needs to happen at the government level. They had only a few doctors looking after the night shift. We need more hospital beds, more staff. I’m sorry to rate sick kids so low because I do believe they are trying their best. They used to be the best. But it’s dangerous to have over 100 patients waiting with a couple of doctors during night shift, only to have more in the morning. We had even tried a different hospital only to be told to go back to Sick Kids. You can’t funnel the entire GTA through 1 hospital. I’m scared for the future of our children. If you can help it don’t go between the hours of 10pm-5am. Those are the words directly from the doctors mouth. How ridiculous is that?!

I was a patient at this hospital as a child myself and we have also been referred to specialists here with our own children over the years. The work thats done here to help kids with their health is world class and we are so lucky to have this place in our community. We have at times had longer waits but the staff have always been amazing and the care we received has been literally life saving. I can empathize with some individuals who had negative experiences related to their emergency and walk-in care services but can't comment as we have always utilized local walk-ins and the local hospital in our community for that kind of thing.

Very very very sloooooow I took my son to the hospital with and swollen ankle after he had an accident in the school ,we had to wait 4 hours to see a doctor, the doctor send him to do an X-ray and we wait one more hour , the doctor came to the room and told us that nothing is broken or fractured. Next day the hospital called me to tell me that they sent the X-ray to an specialist and he find out that my son has fractured his ankle and should bring him back to the hospital. We had been in the hospital for 4more hours and no one has come to talk to us or give my son pain killers, or let us know when he will have the cast.

When I was nine years old a doctor in Urology performed a procedure on me that hadn’t been done either at all at sick kids or I was one of a handful of kids that had it done at that hospital and I’m 39 now and I’m still having kidney issues because of it, and my mom says that the doctor pressured her into agreeing to it, after that surgery I needed a blood transfusion and they didn’t even bother to check the blood so I ended up at the Midland hospital for two weeks and Sick Kids for three months, and they need to retrain the secretaries because my mom was the one that had my health card in her purse and I was the one that was yelled at any time she forgot it by one of the secretaries in the Imaging department and Imaging techs are so untrained that I had to be assigned to one of them because every other imaging tech pushed too hard when they were doing an ultrasound on me, and what the heck is with the once a week fire alarms? Ever thought that you might have hearing impaired patients whose ears throb when the fire alarm goes off? , And you don’t need to do cystoscope with a person asleep just ask Sunnybrook who does the procedure awake

Emergency department of SickKids hospital using a new technique in this technique they are helping their critical patient to see the heaven as soon as possible. Emergency department helping their patient to get more Critically ill ,so the patient could have fun in cccu of SickKids as well . 3 weeks old son face negligence and substandard treatment in Emergency department of SickKids hospital. His mom keep begging to please call cardiac doctors to see their patient, keep asking to have a look on his discharge papers but no one bother. Their 3 weeks old patient waited for 6:30 hours to be seen by cardic doctor who announced that he is critically ill . My son waited for 5:15 hours for the nurses,(I think who were making sure that their patient ,who came at 5 am in the morning , to get more critically ill so that those 4 nurses could poke him for 50 mins to have the iv access but still failed to find the vein, after poking him so long. My son's kidneys, liver, Brain as well as heart got damaged in that whole event. Thanks to SickKids emergency department for such extraordinary care.

Very rude over the phone. Customer service training required across the board. You are here to serve people and your front-line over the phone is terrible, inconsiderate, uninterested, and just trying to get off the phone.
