Unbelievably disorganized with very poor communication. Nurses are horrible and the doctors aren't much better. I would rather drive an hour than receive treatment here.

A horrible, frustrating, experience. I was treated very badly. My nurse was gruff, rude and uncaring. My doctor was an extremely poor communicator. I couldn't get any answers about what treatment and when...I wasn't treated as a person. I wasn't even treated as a patient. Just a number, with my place onvthe treadmill. I am so grateful to have my care changed to Toronto where they immediately (!) began the treatment I kept asking GR for with no clear answer or explanation as to when I was getting it or why it wasn't being started. What a nightmare.

I had one booked appointment confused at the Freeport Hospital because of the appointment made by the Cancer Centre. Other than that they have been very easy to get along with. I have always felt compassion from them. My appointments have not been any longer than a dentist appointment. I am glad they are here instead of having to go to London! I would say stop complaining and realize how good it is for us! Parking is terrible though!

Very very disappointed in our dealings with GRRCC. The communication is terrible. The doctors backstab each other. One doctor covers another and the first or second question the other's diagnosis or treatment. They are always late in services. There is no communication of what is available or even expectations. Patients sit in waiting rooms complaining about the fact that there time means nothing to the doctors, who routinely miss appointments. So very disappointed to see how badly cancer patients are treated in Ontario tat this location. For years have bragged about the Canadian healthcare system, but no longer. I am truly disappointed in what they offer.

I'm very surprised to read the negative comments. I can't say enough good things about the Grand River Cancer Centre. All of the staff I have encountered have been extremely friendly and competent, from the registration right through to the doctors. I have spent a lot of time in this place over the last four years and I have found everything to run smoothly in Clinic A, Clinic B, the chemo suite and the radiation unit. The volunteers are so cheerful and helpful. Far different than my experiences at the main hospital.

There is definitely a problem at this facility. Patients definitely aren't given enough information or options. Certain Oncologists are very rude, obnoxious and down right ignorant, and dear god don't ever question her treatment options and don't ever doubt her thoughts of what it might or might not be, she'll be done with you instantly. Your thoughts and opinion don't mean very much here, and as for compassion here, not too likely. Who do they think they are saying what would or would not be beneficial for you, is it not your choice and your life your dealing with. Also get ready to get pushed aside after they don't want to deal with you anymore. While your in their care (what a joke) you are a patient not a person. And as for the nurse manager, why do they spend 15 minutes asking you questions then spend 15 minutes explaining the answers to the doctor after they come in the room right in front of you, why would the doctor not just ask you the questions so they could get the answers first hand. This center is way behind the times in medicine and treatment. If you where fortunate enough to get helped here I'm very happy for you, you where one of the lucky ones. It's pretty sad when they give up on you before any actual testing is done. This facility is a go with the flow kind of place, if you don't go with it your out. Very disappointed with the lack of sensitivity and compassion shown to you by certain so called doctors in your time of need. Good luck to those of you who have won the battle and keep fighting the fight. Never give up!!! There is always hope regardless of what anyone tells you!!!

There is an obvious problem with communication in this centre. Patients are not given enough information, nurses that you meet with are not transferring information to doctors fully and sometimes incorrectly. Nurses are often quite rude with patients.

Although we have really only begun our journey with the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre so far the experience has been very good. Clearly there are a lot of patients sharing the facility and it is generally very well run and efficient. Staff are bright, helpful, take time to respond to questions and answers. The oncologists are busy and understandably have time limitations but they try their best and respond to requests or treatment queries through the nurse manager reasonably quickly. Only suggestion is that the registration desk in the morning is crowded and cancer patients really should not be spending 15 to 30 minutes standing in line.

This hospital has a very long wait time in emergency, triage is professional but not empathetic. There is a lot of waiting about, for initial assessment, then , if needed, X-ray, then results, then whatever else needs to be done. Prepare to spend all day, or worst, all night if you have to visit here.
