I was referred to Dr Shane Blackmore by a friend who had used him for his shoulder surgery. Soon after I made an appointment at Stronger Healtcare. The staff are exceptional, and Shane was very professional, we went over my condition/injuries and the options going forward. Surgery was required, first up was my right shoulder which went very well. A few weeks later went back and had the left shoulder done as well. The facilities at Stronger, the admin staff, nurse, physios, etc are first class. Highly recommend anyone to see Shane for shoulder surgery.

Mr Blackmore is a very skilled surgeon who also studied in New York City & London. The first time I saw him, he told me, “you’ll tell me when you need surgery” & so I returned 3 years later to say, “yes - now!”. He did my left knee on 11/2/26 and came in to see me shortly after. He provided a sheet explaining exactly what was done. When I left hospital 13 days later (staying as long as possible for in-patient rehabilitation), I had a follow-up appointment at Stronger. I saw a nurse, who removed my staples & gave me a fresh dressing, and then a rehab therapist. Both they and the receptionist were lovely! Professional and helpful. I’ll go back to Shane for my other knee in June and then eventually my shoulder.

Shane's experience in ensuring the procedure is performed properly, he was informative in obtaining the best possible outcome for me. I have my full mobility and excellent flexion in both knees without discomfort in less than a year. After 7 months Left, 5 months Right knee. I got into full yoga, pilates and more. Do the rehabilitation and keep up the improvements with excercise. Recipient of (TKR) double total knee replacements 8 weeks apart. Thank you 🙏

This was my second knee replacement by Shane in just over a year. My first knee replacement was such a success that I had no hesitation in having the second replacement on the 14/1/26. ATM I am progressing really well and well advanced in my rehab. I have so much faith and confidence in Shane and would recommend him to any person requiring a knee replacement. Also very importantly his staff are so efficient, friendly and caring people which makes the whole process so much easier. Thank you Shane and all your staff.

I saw Mr Blackmore for the first time, 4 years ago After I had tried every other option there was for my right knee, he listened to my concerns, explained the next steps and the decision was made to have a partial knee replacement- at the age of 41!!! I saw him again a year later regarding my left knee where we discussed my options and we agreed to do a arthroscopy - a year later I went back, as my knee was painful, and we agreed on a total knee replacement - I had this done at the age of 44!!! I was scared or nervous, I was confident in my decision and my choice of specialist. Mr Blackmore gave me options every single time, he explained them and told me to choose what I wanted and what was needed. He is empathetic, understanding and does what is best for his patients I have refereed many patients to him, and they all feel the same way I can’t fault him at all, As for his staff, 5 stars to them, they are friendly? Assist when needed and do a great job !! Thank you to each and everyone of them

I was referred to Dr. Shane Blackmore and recently visited him at his practice, Stronger Healthcare, in Richmond. From the very first appointment, he took the time to clearly explain the condition of both my hips and why replacement surgery was necessary. His calm, thorough, and reassuring approach immediately gave me confidence. I have now had my total left hip replacement, and the result has been life‑changing. I no longer have any pain in my left hip, and I feel as though my mobility has been fully restored. I am already looking forward to having my right hip addressed soon, knowing I am in highly capable hands. Dr. Blackmore is an exceptional surgeon — skilled, compassionate, and committed to delivering the highest standard of care. He was supported by brilliant health professionals and an outstanding team of staff who made the entire experience smooth and stress‑free. I want to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Shane Blackmore and the entire team at Stronger Healthcare. I highly recommend Dr. Blackmore to anyone seeking world‑class orthopedic care. Thank you. Not only do I highly recommend Dr Blackmore, he is the only orthopedic surgeon I will use for any future operations. Dr. Blackmore was referred to me by another surgeon who was unable to help me. He stepped in and with his expertise undertook my complicated hip replacement surgery. Now 8 weeks post surgery I’m living my life again totally pain free. I can’t thank Dr Blackmore and his team enough. Bravo 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻

Highly recommend Dr. Shane Blackmore and the team at ‘Stronger’. I was suffering dreadful pain in my shoulder and unable to do the slightest of movements. After surgery, and a carefully crafted recovery routine with John Sweet (Stronger Physiotherapist) I’m back at the gym and feeling great!

Biography

Mr Shane Blackmore specialises in sports injuries, arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the knee, hip and shoulder. This includes all aspects of knee, hip and shoulder surgery. After completing subspecialty fellowship training in London and New York, he returned to Melbourne with world-class experience in the latest arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques including Robotic Joint Replacement. He is one of only a few Australian trained surgeons to have his training accredited by both the Arthroscopic Association of North America (AANA) and American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM). Shane is also a member of the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy (ISHA) and a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and the Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOrthA). Shane has managed sports injuries in a variety of college and professional athletes, both in London and New York City. The highlight of his training in New York was working as an assistant team physician for the New York Rangers as they made the Stanley Cup final for the first time in 20 years. Shane was one of the first surgeons in Victoria trained and accredited with performing Robotic Joint Surgery. As part of his fellowship in New York, Shane also learned modern hip and knee replacement techniques, including Anterior Hip Replacement. Shane has other surgeons visit him in theatre to observe and learn Robotic Joint Replacement. The New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases is a world leading institution, which rarely awards ACGME accredited Orthopaedic Sports Medicine fellowships to foreign trained surgeons. Shane was matched to this highly competitive 12 month fellowship position. Under the supervision of a number of prominent surgeons, including Dr Laith Jazrawi and Dr Thomas Youm, he completed a high volume of arthroscopic procedures, primarily of the knee, hip and shoulder. These ranged from simple injuries occurring in the home or workplace, to complex injuries in recreational and professional athletes. His subspecialty training focused on the latest arthroscopic techniques for knee ligament reconstruction (ACL), meniscal repair and transplant, cartilage restoration and joint preservation, shoulder stabilization and rotator cuff repair as well as femoro-acetabular impingement and labral tears of the hip. Preceding this, Shane was awarded the prestigious Calvert Fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth in London. During this 6-month fellowship, supervised by Mr Andrew Wallace and Mr Philip Ahrens, he worked alongside some of the UK’s most preeminent sports surgeons. The fellowship had a subspecialty focus on arthroscopic treatment of shoulder and elbow injuries. While in London, Shane also had the privilege of working with Mr Andy Williams, a world-renowned knee ligament surgeon. Born in Melbourne, Shane graduated from University of Melbourne Medical School before completing his specialist Orthopaedic surgical training in Melbourne. Shane has published articles and book chapters, as well as technique videos on many aspects of arthroscopic surgery. Shane continues to teach medical students and future orthopaedic surgeons through his association with the University of Melbourne and his public hospital appointments at Austin Health, where he is the Director of Orthopaedic Training. Married with a young family, Shane continues to chase his childhood pursuits of less than competitive baseball, tennis and golf.
