I've seen Dr. Li a few times with the first being on video and the other couple of times in person. Unusual atmosphere (family clinic) for a specialist with no other neurologist colleagues. Given that you can get in to see her way earlier than any other neurologist was a red flag and I can see why. Super unhelpful and just wanted me out of the office. First time I've ever experienced this kind of physician whose mood sets the tone for how the appointment is going to go.

I have been seeing Dr. Li for 1 yr. She is very caring, compassionate, understanding and very knowledgeable! She does not rush her appointments, gives me plenty of time to describe my issues and explains things to me in layman's terms especially with the complicated medication names! I would recommend her to any of my family and friends.

I have been with Dr. Li for over 2 years now. She is collaborative, listens, and is very open to answering questions related to my migraine treatment with thoughtful, person-centred consideration for my insurance/special authority/personal goals/finances. Out of 10+ clinic visits, I've never had an issue with punctuality and am always impressed and grateful for the organization and smooth workflow at reception. With another specialist on my care team, I'm used to 2+ hour waits beyond my scheduled appointment time, but it's generally no more than 10 minutes to get from checking in to settling into the treatment room with Dr. Li. I was nervous and a bit sad to start Botox (I'm very pro aging naturally and wouldn't otherwise pursue anti-aging aesthetic treatments), but Botox has dramatically improved my quality of life and enabled me to get off daily preventative medications. It hasn't changed my face and mostly is injected in my scalp, hairline, and traps. Through her care, I've been able to get back to many physical activities that used to trigger exertion-related rebound migraines and I'm finally feeling like my body belongs to me again.

Recommended this doctor to all my friends and colleagues at work. I've been a patient of hers for years and she always seems to be available to answer the many questions I have about my headaches and helped me to deal with my icbc adjuster. She even made time during her maternity leave to return a call. I would highly recommend Dr. Li although sometimes it's hard to get a hold of her office staff..

Some people shouldn't be in medicine and she is one of them.

I've seen many specialists in my life and this neurologist is amongst the top 3 worst encounters with a medical professional I've ever had. The Hippocratic Oath states that a doctor's job is "to minimize suffering" -- it isn't to shame their patients and suggest colonial, outdated interventions of treatment outside of their scope of practice, or to trigger them so severely that they begin to dissociate in the span of a 15 minute appointment. I am shocked there is this much to be said within such a quick, rushed appointment. First, she insisted several times that I couldn't possibly have epilepsy, that my 10 years of seizure history was absolutely correlated with alcohol withdrawal - but, had no response when I informed her that my first seizure took place before I tried alcohol ever in my life, while the second seizure took place while I was drinking a few glasses of wine a couple nights a week. Moreover, I had a focal-aware seizure more recently at a time in which I was drinking regularly as well, but I forgot to bring this up during the appointment because Dr. Li's dismissiveness caught me off guard. Other than seizures, I also have a history of at least 6 documented concussions, my worst of which was linked to the seizure that she claimed occured due to alcohol withdrawal; at that point, I had been sober for about 6 weeks following a tapering period after drinking heavily. I was getting confused at this point about why she was so insistent on this being the sole cause. I think Dr. Li may have mentioned my concussion history 1 time during the appointment, terming my TBI's as "bumps to the head." The "bump to the head" I experienced in November from a seizure involved 6 staples in the hospital and losing consciousness twice more while being transported in an ambulance. Aside from the strange focus on withdrawals, Dr. Li's "bedside manner" was very condescending, cold, close-minded, arrogant, rude, and unhelpful. I was taken aback to hear her tell me, after I had mentioned being denied my requests for naltrexone in the hospital 2 months prior even though it worked well for me, "well, obviously the methods you've tried in the past to quit haven't worked" and further, suggesting Alcoholics Anonymous after I had mentioned relying on my community for support to quit. As a neurologist, this is outside of your scope of practice. She actually encouraged me to continue drinking alcohol after I had told her I had made the decision to quit a couple of days prior, and when I asked her why, she claimed that "quitting cold turkey can be a factor in seizures due to withdrawals" -- so, when I asked her if she knew what kind of tapering period I should do to avoid this, she reverted to "well, I'm a neurologist, this isn't my specialized field but I can refer you back to your GP who should have better knowledge of this." AA really isn't for everyone, and uses a very colonial abstinence-only model, but I felt a strong lack of understanding of the social factors of health from this Dr. I also have complex PTSD and insomnia from nightmares, and these have absolutely been factors in my worsening mental state and an increase in seizures for me. I am beyond disappointed in my experience with Dr. Li and hope she eventually leaves medicine because I am appalled to see these other reviews echoing my experiences as well. I would avoid this doctor at all costs. I wish I'd read these before I went to my appointment.

Dr Li is an exceptional neurologist who truly took my son's seizures seriously. From our first appointment she listened attentively, thoroughly assessed his condition, and provided a clear treatment plan. Thanks to her expertise and compassionate care my son's epilepsy has improved and we are so grateful for her support.
