My eyes and brow lift turned out ok ( one eyebrow is higher not end of world, just looks like bad botox.) But my cheek lift is nothing short of a disaster, they look worse than pre surgury. One is substantially higher, and have creases and dents throughout both. The one that is lower, the stitch let go 2 weeks post surgery, I've watched it slide down, it has been painful for the entire year. I have begged and pleaded with Dr. Patel, to help me fix this, he has gas lit me the entire year. Telling me he can't fix what he can't see, although everyone else can see it. That it's impossible it can not move. That I should go see a GP about discomfort because it has nothing to do with surgery. This whole time I have never asked for anything for free or for him to admit fault, just to help me. I'm not sure how authentic reviews are because there is no way this Dr has so few bad reviews. I would warn anyone go to a board certified facial plastic surgeon, don't go solely of reviews as they are able to pay to have bad reviews removed, I have now verified this through a clinic that does injectables, realself is the most unreliable. It has been incredibly difficult to find a facial plastic surgeon, ( which Dr.Patel is not) to fix this, most do not want to take on another Dr botched job

In February 2016, when my daughter was just 2 months old, I noticed her left eye starting to bulge. I was concerned, and spoke to three doctors before being told that there was a tumor behind her eye, and being referred to Primary Children's Medical Center. There, we visited with 4 different doctors, one being Dr. Bhupendra Patel. My husband and I were immediately impressed by the apparent research that he is involved in. He is a doctor who keeps up-to-date on medical knowledge, and even seems to be a pioneer in the field. Although it was likely that it was a capillary hemangioma, which is not cancerous, he said that he would be more comfortable doing a biopsy to confirm, because he wasn't completely certain. The procedure took twice as long as we expected, but went well. In addition to doing the biopsy procedure, he also removed as much of the tumor as he safely could. Because he took longer in surgery to make sure he did the best and safest job possible, he received a reprimand, being told that he'd thrown off the schedule and should have simply scheduled a second surgery to extract the tumor. Any surgery requiring total anesthesia holds high risks for such a tiny baby. I appreciate the fact that he was willing to risk reprimand in order to keep my daughter from having to be put under again. The fact that he took time to remove the tumor resulted in immediate improvement in the comfort of my daughter. We have since treated the remaining portion of the tumor with medication, with amazing results. Dr. Patel has followed up with us several times, and continues to schedule appointments to check her every 6 months to ensure that all is still healing as it should. Anyone who sees her cannot believe that she ever had surgery. He went in through the crease in her eyelid; the scar is barely noticeable, even if you know to look for it, and her eyelid functions perfectly. Dr. Patel takes the time to do a thorough job, he knows exactly what he is doing, he is completely honest with you, and he has a good bedside manner. His team is amazing, and it is obvious that they have a great deal of respect for him. I highly recommend him.

I lost my eye 15 years ago and was made a prosthesis by a previous specialist. I have spent every day the last 15 years self conscious about how I look. I have seen many doctors and have had previous surgery with little success. I finally went to see Dr. Patel and am so glad I did. He is truly the best in the business. He performed surgery on my upper and lower lid and I can say for the first time in 15 years, I do not think about my eye on a daily basis. You honestly cannot tell that I have a prosthesis. Dr. Patel is skilled, knowledgeable and understands not only the physical improvements that could be made, but also the psychological aspect that comes with losing an eye. He is compassionate and takes pride in what he does and I could not recommend him more.

Around this time last year I was getting in my seat on a roll coaster at a local theme park. I was buckled in waiting to take off when I happened to glance to my right side and notice a young boy pointing directly at me and asking his friend if he saw my eye. Instantly I was sick to my stomach and not from the rollercoaster. It was a small moment that made me feel like a fish out of water. The rest of the day was spent avoiding eye contacting and being self conscious. A few weeks ago I was at Lagoon again waiting to board the same rollercoaster when the flashback to that moment came. I began to feel paranoid but as I looked at the group around me not one adult or child seemed stuck on my eye, they saw me. This was all due to Dr. Patel’s skill and diligence. At the age of five I had a benign glioma tumor removed from behind my left eye. This was my first encounter with Dr.Patel; I was beyond blessed and fortunate that he was the surgeon on call. Although my vision in my left eye was lost my eyeball was saved. Dr.Patel made every decision about my initial surgery very methodically. The surgery did leave me with a few side effects out of my control; droopy eyelid, hollowness around my eye, and scarring just to name a few. 16 years of wearing a prosthetic shield had also played a part in wearing out the muscles around my eye. This had led to loss of control in my eyelid, not being able to keep my eye open, my prosthesis not fitting quite right...etc. I by no means had the worst thing in the world happen to me. However, growing up knowing I looked different always played a role in my life. Constantly being asked what happened to my eye, kids being kids and sometimes adults being worse didn’t help develop much confidence or self esteem. Wearing a prosthetic eye did help create a sense of normality but there were still days I was reminded I wasn’t “normal” by a harmless question or someone staring at my eye a little too long. A lot of the time I tried to avoid eye contact, I hated getting my pictures taken, and wore my hair so it covered my eye. Socially I was impacted because didn’t feel like I could stay out with friends due to my eye all but shutting when I was tired; my parents probably didn’t mind this side effect. All jokes aside, I’ve done a lot of hiding in my life. Emotionally this was very damaging. Fast forward 19 years and I’ve been blessed to work with Dr. Patel again and have had an upper eyelid lift on my left eye. He was able to do my surgery in a way that filled out the hollowness in and around my eye socket. Since my surgery I have felt a whirl-wind of change. I find myself wearing my hair off my face, wearing eye shadow in ways I never dreamt possible, and posing for pictures! Though this may seems small, what it means to me is beyond expression. I was asked at my consultation if I had any discomfort with my eye and I responded no at the time. Wearing a prosthetic eye has it’s discomforts and daily challenges that I had grown accustom to. After having my surgery I barely notice my prosthetic eye! I had no idea how much physical pain I was in until my surgery was done and the problem was fixed. I wish I would have had this surgery years ago! I experienced way more physical pain, especially the past few years, than I should of had to. I wish I could put into words how much gratitude I have for Dr. Patel! My insurance originally was not going to cover the cost of my surgery because they stated it was cosmetic. Dr. Patel saw the necessity; necessary physically, emotionally and mentally. He and his staff worked diligently to have this injustice fixed. He promised he would fight for me and reassured me that something I had thought about for years was actually possible. Dr.Patel and his staff not only were gracious and wonderful during office visits but were incredible about keeping me updated on progress. Dr. Patel kept his word to me, the insurance paid for my surgery. He didn’t just fight for me, he fights for others who can’t fight for themselves in this process. He has told me on multiple occasions how important he feels it is to have surgeries like mine performed. He works hard every day to help people worldwide have the surgeries that are a necessity. It is amazing and rare to find a doctor that cares to the depth that Dr. Patel does, he is a true humanitarian. His bedside manner was confident but he was always kind in the way he spoke to me. He always answered my questions and was very thorough and thoughtful through the entire process. As high in demand as Dr.Patel is I felt like a priority. I didn’t have one moment of doubt that I wasn’t in the best hands. If you’ve been told you no, you can’t be helped, I would highly recommend seeking Dr.Patel. He is extremely talented, I even dare say the best in his field. He has fought for myself and others and I have no doubt that he would for anyone seeking his help. Thank you D.Patel and staff! You have changed my life!

After having Mohs Surgery on my lower eyelid for squamous cell cancer at the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, I was left with a very large hole and my lower eyelid was half gone. Dr. Patel was so concerned about the amount of tissue that was removed that he squeezed me in immediately after the Mohs Surgery to assess the issue and stayed after hours to perform the necessary cosmetic surgery to reconstruct my lower eyelid. He did a great job. Not only does it look good but it functions correctly. Dr. Patel's extensive knowledge, expertise and compassion makes him a wonderful doctor. I would recommend and trust him explicitly.

Shortly after my 58th birthday, I started to experience symptoms of what turned out to be Graves’ disease. I had the classic symptoms, and over time, the thyroid eye disease became the most troublesome aspect for me. Within a few months, my eyes ached constantly and I had a great deal of difficulty using them for everyday things like reading, computer work and even driving. I could barely look at myself in the mirror, as I looked quite frightful and angry. Things grew increasing difficult at work and in social situations. My local physicians prescribed steroid treatments, but there was little relief or noticeable improvement. My symptoms continued to worsen and it came to the point where the health of my optic nerve was a concern; I was advised to undergo emergency orbital decompression surgery. Based upon my research into thyroid eye disease, I considered this course of action as a “last resort” option given that I was still in the active phase, which would make it very difficult to achieve a good outcome with the ongoing changes in my eye orbit. On the other hand, needless to say I was alarmed by the prospect of optic nerve damage. It was at this point that I decided to seek a second opinion and was fortunate enough to find Dr. Patel. I spent much of a day being evaluated by him and his staff to determine my best treatment option. In the end, he felt that we hadn’t done a high enough dose of steroids, and he recommended a three month course of treatment. I wasn’t thrilled with the thought of resuming the steroids, but I much preferred it to the emergency surgery. And it wasn’t a difficult decision because I was greatly reassured by Dr. Patel’s concern, his calm manner and his obvious competence. I left his office with a strong sense of relief, and from that point forward, my condition steadily improved. Dr. Patel monitored my progress, and eventually concluded that my eye disease had stabilized to the point where surgery could be performed to improve the condition of my eyes. I was impressed by his deliberate approach and expertise throughout this process. I was also pleased that his surgical choices were guided by my “pre” photographs. I am now eight weeks out since the surgery on my second eye and things are progressing very nicely – I am starting to recognize myself again! I am extremely thankful Dr. Patel treated my eye disease, and I would encourage anyone to seek out his counsel and surgical skills if in a similar situation.

I have a diagnosis of long term right sided facial paralysis with severe ptosis and asymmetry. I have consulted with Surgeons from Hartford, CT to Denver Co with minimal improvement. Dr. Patel's surgical skills are exceptional! My eyes are perfectly symmetrical, the eye no longer tears constantly, is pain free, and I am able to utilized my contact. He also added support to the affected side which has resulted in a symmetry I have never had. Dr. Patel is compassionate, understanding and informative. I felt completely confident committing to a surgical procedure under his care. Dr. Patel is truly a gifted surgeon. I highly recommend him with no reservations!! It is a 5 hour trip for me but well worth the travel time.

I went to Dr. Patel after seeing another doctor for two years for a growth on my eyelid. The other doc kept telling me it would go away eventually. Dr. Patel looked at it and immediately said it was cancer. He did a biopsy to verify and I had to have about half of my eyelid removed. Dr. Patel, who is also a cranial facial plastic surgeon, fixed the damage to my eye perfectly. I trust him completely and would, without hesitation, refer anyone to him. In fact, I did. My grandma went to him for cataract surgery and she has an equally high opinion of him.
