I recently had my vision correction done with Dr. Herzig and I couldn't be happier with the results. From the first consultation to the final check up, the entire experience was exceptional. Dr. Herzig is not only incredibly skilled, but also patient, reassuring, and thorough. Every step was explained clearly, and I felt completely comfortable and confident throughout the whole process. The procedure was quick and painless, and my vision improved almost immediately. If you're considering vision correction, I highly recommended Dr. Herzig. It's one of the best decission I've ever made!

My new ophthalmologist just informed me that I need a corneal transplant after Dr Herzig ruined my eyes. It wasn’t just the post lasik ectasia that I developed, a rare and devastating complication of Laser surgery. It was the corneal intacs treatment after the fact that he did to fix the ectasia. Instead he inserted the intac incorrectly, causing corneal scarring. I don’t know if he’s still practicing but if he is, it’s best to avoid this doctor.

They offer lifetime guarantee but find every possible excuse not to honor. Horrible person . Horrible staff

Cataract surgery with the assurance of improved vision. Vision much worse after procedure. Explanation provided: "Wrong lenses inserted". Subsequent surgeries to replace IO lenses. Vision still poor compared to original vision. Lost confidence in the expertise promoted for this clinic and it's highly regarded surgeon. Glasses seem like the only reliable option now.

Dr. Sheldon Herzig operated ICL procedure on me in 2021, one month later he operated icl extraction surgery, before the extraction surgery Dr. Herzig assured me that my eyes will be the same as before, it just takes time. One year later, my eyes situation has not improved, it has caused so much stress in my life and everyone around me, all my energy goes into how to improve it, with severe dryness, tiredness and floaters, quite frankly I’m losing my hope. No words can describe my resentment towards Herzig Eye Institute, and Dr. Sheldon Herzig. I do, however still hope one day my eyes will be back to the way it was before, as Dr.Herzig said so, and before that day comes, I will be in pain.

Simply outstanding from first consultation to my cataract surgery: the expertise, professionalism, calm and above all, the results. One could neither dream of nor ask for more. I am so glad my doctor suggested Dr Herzig.

Biography

Dr. Sheldon Herzig is one of the world’s most respected and experienced laser eye surgeons. He has pioneered the development and application of leading-edge technologies in advanced cataract and refractive surgery. He has also done extensive work on the use of ultrasound and foldable lenses in advanced cataract surgery and the development of outpatient cataract surgery. Dr. Herzig’s work with thousands of patients has led to technique innovations on which he has lectured extensively around the world. He is respected by the medical community worldwide for his publications, scientific papers and formal presentations. Dr. Herzig completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Toronto, after which he completed a fellowship in corneal and cataract surgery at the Mary Shiels Eye Hospital in Dallas, Texas, where he was trained in the most advanced micro-surgical techniques for cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Herzig is a member of the surgical staff at North York General Hospital. In 1996, Dr. Herzig co-founded the Herzig Eye Institute with businesswoman Cherry Tabb. A centre of excellence that is recognized worldwide, the Herzig Eye Institute and Dr. Herzig have treated more than 150,000 patients from all over Canada, 42 states and 23 countries worldwide, from Bermuda to Singapore to South Africa and has trained – and treated – several hundred of the world’s leading advanced cataract and refractive surgeons. Since the initiation of laser vision correction technology, Dr. Herzig has been recognized as a leader in the use of laser technologies in refractive surgery. Eye surgeons and optometrists from all over the world attend his courses on Laser Vision Correction technique. Dr. Herzig prepared the Recommended Guidelines for Laser Refractive Centres in Canada, which is distributed through the Canadian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and has assisted the College of Physicians and Surgeons in provinces across Canada in evaluating standards of surgical practice. He is the past president of the Canadian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (1998-2000) and continues, through his practice and teachings, to be on the cutting edge of his specialty using the most advanced state-of-the-art technology to provide each patient with a custom vision correction to meet their unique needs.
