Kind, compassionate encounter. My daughter saw her a while back at the Archie Courtnall. I’ve heard she’s been off for a while due to illness. So thankful for the care.
My consultation with Dr. Simms was one of the most beneficial and inspiring appointments in my life. Dr. Simms is compassionate, intuitive and takes the time to listen to ones' concerns. We are so fortunate to have a Psychiarist with the highest quality of caring , and a Professional who exudes hope and actually listens. .A professional who balances listening with facts and recommendations is a quality I found to be calming in itself. In my mind Dr. Simms is a highly qualified Professional who we are fortunate to have helping us.
I saw this doctor at the counselling clinic. She was kind, and a good listener. She helped me with my papers I need for my work leave and understood my PTSD. If you go to see this doctor she will help you.
My current psychiatrist recently told me if I had stayed on Dr. Simm's treatment plan I would have had long term damage including mask-like facial symptoms; she was trying to put me on anti-psychotics with someone who had no psychosis (ever). I only have anxiety and depression- confirmed by many psychiatrists since. She does not let you talk, instead making up her mind about what you have and that's that. My family Dr had to get involved to advocate on my behalf - he knew I didn't have this ridiculous diagnosis or needed that type of treatment. I would advise others to stay away from this Dr if you want to be listened to, diagnosed correctly, and with the proper treatment. It could have long term damage otherwise..
Not a good appointment. My surgeon will find me another doctor. I have cancer and don't need someone telling me I am feeling sorry for my
i have had a bad year and been to emerg a few times with severe pain and dizzyness...wound up in the hospital had not slept for 8 days..doc there said would you like to see a psyciatrist to help you with the stress of your health i said sure. in walks Dr Simms she sits down and says i have read your file and you have been to emerg too often and you seem to think you cant take alot of meds (i can't) that is a psyciatric condition called something like sonoma sydrome..i said no i dont think so can i explain the hospital visits she said no i read your file and i said lots of people cant take certain meds...she said that is my diagnosis she was quite abrupt and would not let me say or explain anything (i was in for headaches, face pain and dizzyness!) then she got up and left and now this is on my record..i called VIHA and asked how to file a complaint and they said they cant take her notes off my file but i can get a copy of her notes and ask to file an addendum to her report...God if i thought i had a headache before i went in....i sure have one now how can she do something like this.......i think she has a superiority complex and regret ever agreeing to speak to her
I found Doctor Simms very professional, compassionate and understanding. She verbalise very well my diagnostic and finally feel better. Thank you so much.
Dr Simms is an anxiety and addictions specialist. In my intake interview, she stated right off the bat that she had read my file and told me my diagnosis before even letting me speak. The diagnosis was horribly incorrect and that was confirmed by two other psychiatrists seen after her. She spends a lot of time lecturing you, and very, very little time- if any, listening to you. She seems to like talking about her own problems at home with her family issues, which I found to be extremely inappropriate. Overall, her misdiagnosis caused further delays in getting the help and treatment I needed for PTSD, and prescribed treatments that were not necessary or medically indicated.
I read this Dr.'s reviews prior to our visit but I went in with an open mind to simply tell my story once more. Suffering from social phobia, anxiety and depression,I as many do, try to alleviate these life changing fears at some point by whatever means possible which includes the use of alcohol. Once the Dr. Heard this I could barely get a word in edgewise. Having gone to two private recovery facilities and leaving both within an hour due to panic I tried to explain how going to a typical recovery group is almost impossible although I went to two public institutions for a month each and nothing was done to address my phobias. This is why, I explained I wanted to join the "Anxirty Clinic" in Victoria so If I still needed help with substance abuse I might have some tools to help me deal with those social environments. No matter, her decision had been made early on It seems and I was told to seek traditional help as before. Thanks for nothing Dr. Simms
She is knowledgeable, compassionate and has helped me immensely.
