He was fantastic with my pregnancy.I DEMANDED to have him as my OBGYN and even though his scheduel and mine did not work, he made it work for me. I appreciated that. He was amazing and he even did my external manipulation when my son decided to turn arround just before the due date. He was so compasionate and carring and always gave full details of what is involved and the risks and the positives. I would STRONGLY recommend him to anyone.

I cannot say enough about Dr.Cowan.I would recommend him to anyone lucky enough to have him.He handled all of my prenatal care with my second child as well as the induction and delivery. When my son came out the embilical cord was wrapped tightly around his neck 3 times and he was barely breathing.Dr.Cowan skillfully and quickly untangled and removed the cord from my son and coached the attending nurses step by step on how to care for him,all the while stopping my hemoraging. As far as I am concerned he saved both of our lives that day and did it all while keeping me and my husband as calm as possible with his soft spoken and calm demeanor. He knows what needs to be done and does it.True he may not look you in the eye all the time but I guess that's just his way.I've never met a more dedicated Doctor. He began my induction at 7am.My son arrived at 11:15pm Dr.Cowan did not leave my side until nearly 1:00am and he was back in my hospital room by 8:00am to check on me again.Amazing Doctor!

One of the only doctor's I have been treated by that didn't have an "air" about him. I thought his bedside manner was incredible...it has nothing to do with eye contact! I found Dr Cowan to be knowledgeable, sincere, and compassionate.

Dr.Cowan has delievered all 4 of my children and I could not ask for a better doctor!! I would trust this doctor with my life!! I was not married for my first 2 children and never recieved an coments or looks because of that.I get very upset when I hear of how he has a bad bedside manner, yes he doesn't always look you in the eye but when it comes to birthing your child he is amazing, he talked me through it everytime. And made sure I knew what was going on.I would recomend him to anyone. My last child inhaled fluid when born and stopped breathing Dr.Cowan stayed by my side untill my son was breathing again, and incouragaed me everything was going to be ok.

Even thought it was in 2006, I am still upset about my daughter's birth. Dr. Cowan made no attempt to let me or my husband know what was going on during or after delivery, and he was gone before we could ask him any further questions.

Agree with the lady about bed side manner - he has none - makes no eye contact. May have excellent skills with delivery but he and his nurse at the Brantford General lack manners. I am a 20 yr. old lady, completing my 3rd year of university & my boyfriend and I are pregnant with our first child. I had to see doctor for a coloposcy - his nurse questioned me unnecessarily about how did I know I was pregnant, was I sure I was pregnant, etc. even though my family doc had sent my medical records to them. Dr. even asked me if I "at least had a significant other" during a very unconfrtable exam & procedure. I have had several pelvic exams done in the past but was never made to feel as uncomfortable as I was in this exam - nurse was somewhere in the room but never saw her from the position I was in. Dr questioned the abilities of my family doctor(a doctor who is highly rated on this site)Nurse obviously had an opinion on "un-wed" mothers & was quick to display it towards me during this visit

I have to agree with everyone else, love this doctor. He delivered my first son and was wonderful. I wasn't so lucky to have him there during the delivery of my second son and he was sorely missed. I never waited long for any of my office appointments, even though I expected to. He was always thorough and helpful with any concerns I might have had. Thanks Dr. Cowan.

I am not sure where to start with this doctor. I have given him so many oppotunities to improve his bed side manners but no he has sadly failed each time
