Ratings for Dr. Michael Maloney

Dr Moloney sought truth from materials in DFFH reports that have No merit as the DFFH reports are incorrect misleading as the reports in question have been forwarded to both state and federal ministers also Victoria police commissioner as the department knowingly in the reports are perverting the course of justice during judicial proceedings resulting in DFFH participating in & committing the criminal offence of Perjury Crimes act 1956 (the act)
Out of date. No compassion. Arrogant. I went for help and he made me feel worse. Should retire.
My experience with Dr. Maloney at times was challenging &confronting... As such, I highly recommend Dr. Maloney's methods of treatment.. Tho, Dr. Maloney's methods are not designed for patient's/people who have no desire to get better or learn more effective skills/ways to manage their illness/diagnosis. If you truly want to get better & ready to be 100% honest, with yourself & Dr. Maloney. You will undoubtedly benefit from his treatment.. I am a living example that Dr. Maloney's treatment methods work.
All the reviews here are true. Just another narcissistic clueless old white man. He asked to see photos of my family and said he couldn't treat me otherwise. You're a disgrace -- do everyone a favour and retire.
I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, so when I read other poor reviews of Dr Maloney I attributed them to the patient's mindset - maybe they weren't prepared to listen to reason and that's why they had a bad experience. However, after having a consultation of my own I have to agree. Disregarding the perceived accuracy of any diagnoses made (as patients are rarely to best judge of their own idiosyncrasies), I found Dr Maloney to be the sort of psychiatrist that makes people fear the profession. He asked broad questions and used the limited information in my answers to extrapolate and diagnose conditions including OCD, social anxiety, control issues, unresolved anger, and to imply limited resilience. I also felt he degraded who I am as a person by saying that my personality was actually an act and that I should stop trying to please everyone else - as I side note, I personally feel very comfortable within my own skin and the personality traits he cited as being "put on" are really just how I am as a person. It felt like no matter what my answer to a questions was, it was always going to be indicative of some condition: when I mentioned being academically driven it was a bad thing because of the stress and perfectionism it creates, but when I said I haven't decided on a career path yet that was also a bad thing because I have no direction and being in limbo is bad. While I don't feel that most, if any, of the diagnoses made were accurate, that is beside the point. It was Dr Maloney's maner that
I found Dr Michael Maloney to be an arrogant, rude, dis honest and impatient person who would rather be quick to make his own judgements and diagnosis, than to actually listen to the facts. He scheduled a second appointment, but I cancelled it, because I would rather not see that idiot again. Do not waste your time with Dr Michael Maloney, he is a fraud and a joke.
He asked me to give a full run down from birth to now as he asked questions. He asked if I was shy as a child, no. He said, well you aren’t really an extrovert, you’re shy an introvert. Odd but ok(?) he’s the psych maybe he knows something I don’t. Then said (and I quote “it’s actually exhausting listening to you” (Whaaaattt? You asked me to cram my whole life, relationships, work, experiences and sucky things into 40 mins, yeah it’s pretty full on). I told him I get a lot of sensory overload, especially from noise, he said (again a quote) “that’s because you are a control freak” (Huh? Nothing in my history or my relationships with friends or family suggest this). Also told me that I have BPD (as I’ve seen in the comments this seems quite the go to diagnosis). It didn’t ring true to me, my family or my friends. Traits just didn’t fit. I went to him twice did not get any actual help, ideas, things that might help me cope etc other than a referral to the Melbourne Clinic, which actually was great. I’ve cancelled future appointments and won’t be seeing him again. He basically told me I’m shy yet exhausting, a control freak but submissive and have a disorder I don’t. He made me feel like I was a horrible person and made me question my whole world and life. Not at all helpful. So yeah, that’s a “not recommended” from me.
Michael was rude and obnoxious. When I degreed with what he was saying he said it was very “BPD” of me and saw me for like 5 minutes.
Dr Maloney helped me very much. I will always be grateful.
I wish I had seen these reviews before I saw Dr Maloney. Like so many others on here, this doctor asked to see my family photos. He spoke some rubbish about understanding what kind of people they were by looking at their eyes. Then like most other people below, he diagnosed me with borderline personality disorder on the second visit. Find someone better if you want real treatment.
