Was looking forward to having Dr. Tollefson as my physician after reading the reviews HOWEVER her website advises her WILLOW FAMILY MEDICAL CENTER at 3434 Edwards Mill Road in Raleigh is CLOSING April 1, 2013 after 13 years.
well all I can say is that she helped save my life! i just thought i had the flu and it ended up that my bp was sooo high, I was on my way out. (about to be dead!) she worked with me till we got it under control.
I love Dr. T. She is the first doctor I've been to that will tell it like it is. She also tries to offer alternatives and doesn't just hand you a pill. Unfortunately I read the reviews to late and it seems as though she has fallen off the map again. I have emailed and called trying to get lab results from a few weeks ago with no luck. I was over near her office today and stopped by a little after 9am only to find the door locked. Her appt scheduler is also not working. I am really sad that this seems to be a trend with her. I love her as a doctor but I definitely am not comfortable with the disappearing act.
She's moved from Durham to Raleigh. Sure hope she gets her act together. Great medically but horrible administratively.
Dr. T is a knowledgeable, kind doctor. But, I think she has some terrible personal issues since it may be that she is faltering as a doctor. I have seen her many times, but she has grown so unreliable, that at this time, we are reporting her to the medical board soon, and we will probably not be the first. Sadly, I think she has great potential, but it may be she takes time off to address her demons and not continue to let her patients down. A wonderful doctor, but way too unreliable, even under emergency situations. I cannot, nor will not, recommend her anymore.
My visit was not bad, but she was unable to diagnosis me. I was sent to get lab work done, and attempted to contact her by email and phone several times and I am still unable to get my lab results several weekes later. Felt like I am getting the run around. Needs administrative help.
Fantastic doctor, very knowledgeable about insurance companies and what they cost you. Very wise medically. Needs more help in the back-office department.
Dr. Tollefson does not respond well to pharmacy faxes for refills. Patients usually have to wait many days before a response is sent back to the pharmacy. This leaves patients to ask pharmacies for medications to hold them over until Dr. T authorizes more refills. She also provides an emergency number, but hates it when patients use that number (no matter how big or small the emergency number).
Dr. T. is knowledgeable, hardworking, extremely kind, and a real loving physician, probably one of the best I've seen. You'll really like her, and she listens and is great doc. However, her back office skills (or management of others doing them) is lacking. Expect to wait days or weeks for return phone calls or reports.
Due to moving around this great nation with my various jobs, I've had a number of Doctors and Dr T is by far the best I've had! She really takes the time to explain issues and will listen to the patient as well.
