I worked with Jim a few years back and all I can say is that is was a privilege to work with him. He is the kindest and most down to earth Dr that I have ever worked with. Very Professional and is definitely someone who I would have take care of my family members. Jim it was a pleasure to have worked with you.

I came I to emergency via paramedic Oshawa lakeridge. I had extreme abdominal pain and was vomiting. I was put on Iv and given graval. When I was talking to the nurse she said she suspected a ruptured appendix. I asked her how the doctor would determine that was my problem, she told me he would give an ultrasound. Dr Shipley then gave me a just a physical examination and determinened that I had an ruptured ovarian cyst and I trusted his expertise. He then sent me home with a anti inflammatory prescription. Two bed ridden weeks later during a ovarian cyst operation I had to have an emergency cavity cleaning and appendectomy by dr couteau. I am lucky I am alive today because of this misdiagnosis.

Given the absiolute horror my huisband and I have been enduring trying to find a family Dr for my husband's complex health issues, Dr Shipley was an absolute 'breath of fresh air' so to speak. He assisted my husband in emergency recently and we cannot thank him enough--- for his time during what was clearly an extremely busy day in emerg; his compassion and his outstanding level of expertise. We simply wish to express our deepest gratitude to him. Although STILL in search for a family Dr for my husband, whose health continues to deteriorate, Dr Shipley's attention that very difficult and stressful day was so deeply appreciated. My husband said he felt like 'a person' again after meeting with this Dr. Thank you very, very much from the bottom of our hearts, Dr. We truly wish he had a family practice. If we had the option in this country to be able to 'purchase' decent, thorough health care, we'd go to the end of the earth and back to obtain a physician as tremendous as Dr Shipley

My son, who was extremely ill with an infection that was swelling his throat closed and spreading though his body and who was in an enormous amount of pain as well was initially sent by a dr., who called ahead, to Bowmanville hospital. On arriving there, despite his condition and the fact that they were expecting him, the nurses just sent him into the waiting room and left him there for over an hour, making comments about our need to 'wait our turn like everyone else'. When i after that point questioned whether they had talked to the dr that sent us they just rolled their eyes. We walked out, went back to the original dr. and he called and made arrangements for us to go to Oshawa. What a contrast. My son went thru the triage process then directly into a room and on a morphine drip and two intervenous antibiotics; all very quickly and compassionately. It truly is a shame Dr Shipley has no family practice. Thank you and bravo to the nurses at Oshawa too that day.

The best Emerg Doctor I have ever had the opportunity to meet. The emergency room was packed yet my wait time was minimal due to his efficiancy. He never seems to rest and all to the benefit of his patients. He is highly skilled at diagnosing and treating all ailments regardless of degree of acuity. Bedside manners are amazing and explains everything thoroughly. Would highly recommend him for emergency treatment, wish he had a family practice.
