How the Red iPhone is Helping to Save Humanity, One Baby at a Time

It’s all about getting medicine and services to the right people, on time.

Last week, Apple’s red iPhone 7 and 7 Plus went on sale, adding to the color options available to consumers looking for a new iPhone. While much of the hype is simply about making a profit for Apple, it actually isn’t only about sales for the mega tech company.

Amazingly, a portion of the proceeds from each red iPhone will go towards efforts working to eliminate the threat of HIV and AIDS in the world. So, if you happen to be in the market for a new premium smartphone, this is could be a good one to get.

Specifically speaking, some of the proceeds raised by sales of the red iPhone 7 are going to an organization called RED (hence the color of the phone).

RED is focused on raising money to help eliminate the transfer of HIV/AIDS from infected moms to their babies, and it funds programs in Africa.

The organization was founded by U2’s Bono and Bobby Shriver back in 2006 and it works by donating the money it raises to The Global Fund, a massive Swiss-based organization that supports programs run by local experts in more than 140 countries.

While moving mountains can’t be done by one person, each drop in the bucket gets us further.

RED states on its website that in 2005, more than 1,200 babies were born every day with HIV, but today that number is down to 400.
