First time visit Dr Kang, he was very knowledgeable, pleasant and patience with my 85 years old mom during her test. Appreciated all his suggestions such as getting an AirTag for tracing my mom, brilliant idea! Thank you Dr Kang.
Sincerely thank you Leslie’s support and her kind attentions to my mom.
Finally, the lady at the front desk was so nice and helpfulness, thank you ALL ❤️

Had to comment as surprised with negative reviews. Dr Kang saw my husband in hospital and in office. We found him to be knowledgeable, emphathetic and a very good listener. He phoned me from the hospital and spend time with checking my concerns and in office always included me as well.. The only criticism was he was often late for appointments but once in session you never felt rushed at all. My husband always left feeling heard and with very helpful suggestions to carry forward

I don't believe his behaviours were theraputic to me, nor to his other patients.

Anyway, I am going to share my experience with you.

In Decemcer 2015, I was an inpatient at Burnaby IPU, there I had Dr. Kang. He used to be one of my doctors at the hospital, who used to be abusive to me, he caused me cognitive impairment by putting me on wrong medication, Seroquel XR, and yelled at me go get a job and this is not a hotel. I was incapacitated and yelled at by the same doctor, who created hostile circumstances against me.

If you have Dr. Kang as your doctor, don't hesitate to report his behavior to his supervisor. Ask your nurse on how to report him to his supervisor.
I was so incapacitated to report him and that's what I am regretful for.

There's no punctuality. He has other calls and takes them when he should be spending time with us. Seems like our time is not important . Very terrible bedside manners. He's got little empathy, ride to my brother calling him a liar. He should be asking more question rather than criticize.

Not sure why everyone else has such horrible reviews on him, but my experience was awesome! I've seen him a couple of times due to my multiple sclerosis and how sad & angry I feel, and he's been very helpful in my dealing with this cr*ppy disease. Top rateings for this dude!!

Very rude and and arrogant. Prefers to hear himself talk rather than listen to, or address genuine concerns of patients family members. Was extremely opinionated on private family matters that were neither brought to his attention nor discussed in front of him. Highly inappropriate!

After trying to desperately seek help from the hospital in a very troubled time in my life, I was admitted to the psych ward with DR. Kang as my psychiatrist. Every visit I had with this doctor was like a mental stress test to see how much Kang could push my buttons before I'd get upset with him. One visit, he told me how I "enjoy playing the victim", and another visit we sat in a room while in an adjacent room a guy was banging on the walls screaming "I'M HUNGRY!!"... I even asked Kang if we could change rooms because I felt uncomfortable but he outright refused. Several visits had him asking me too many unrelated questions and then would find moments to point out how I was giving him contradicting answers, which I'll honestly say I only did because he was causing a lot of stress for me at that point and I didn't like seeing him at all. It got so bad that I had to lie to Kang and keep ultra vigilant just so I could get out of that psych ward as quickly as possible just so I wouldn't have to deal with him, the staff or the patients again. Keep in mind that, I came here seeking help and then in just two weeks I wanted out regardless if I got the help I needed, which I clearly wasn't getting. So thanks Kang for scaring me from ever asking for help from you or pretty much anyone else at the hospital. You've really left a lasting impression on me and your practice.

This man is a terrible Psychiatrist. He does not listen nor does he have any compassion whatsoever. He asks completely irrelevant questions in an effort to probe your personality without even considering the stupidity that spews from his mouth. This man does not deserve to be a Psychiatrist. He is easily the worst Psychiatrist in Burnaby General Hospital.

This individual is the best example of worst case practise and should not be in the medical field. He asked questions that were not relevant to the situation at hand. He was condescending and pandered to the resident and student who were also inn the room. He was really rude when I could not name a medication and when I phoned the pharmacy where is had been dispensed he took the phone and did not ask the appropriate questions. I told him several time he was not listening to what I was saying. Finally I got up and left the room in tears. I later learned that the medication was nothing that would interfere with whatever it was he might have subscribed confirming my suspicion at the time. Do yourself a favour and find a different doctor.
