From the minute we arrived the entire staff was amazing. Dr Tian is the kindest most genuine doctor I have every had the pleasure of knowing.. in our first pre surgery telephone call his kindest was evident and it has continued throughout my experience. I was a bit nervous and he relieved all my fears. The way he treated the team during my surgery reenforced my opinion. He continued to show kindest as he always said please and thank to each of them. I give the entire team and especially Dr Tian a 10 out of 10.

For the past six years my eyesight was becoming increasingly worse. I was having trouble with reading street signs and couldn’t follow a golf ball past 25 yards. I also couldn’t see information on my computer screen, needing to get within six inches to read.

I had been going to various places for eye examinations. My eyes had no structural problems. I was back to wearing glasses for the first time in 40 years. But my vision was still far from adequate. I was to five different optometrists (I asked to see the ophthalmologist but couldn’t visit with any of them), getting new glasses each year with virtually little or no improvement. I was finally told I had some minor cataracts and I would still not have clear 20-20 vision.

I was getting very frustrated.

Fortunes turned for me this summer. I heard a radio commercial for K2 Vision. So, I set up a consultation. I met several staff members who did an examination of my eyes, informed me of the surgery procedure, etc. I was extremely impressed by their professional knowledge and cordialness. And yes, I had cataracts.

I set the surgery for my right eye in four days. I was informed my surgeon would be Dr. Jack Tian. I was told he was younger than most but was excellent. I was not concerned about the last name of Tian.

Dr. Tian called before the surgery and asked if I had any questions. I replied that I was well informed by the staff. He gave me his phone number just in case I had any inquiries.

I met Dr. Tian before the surgery and I immediately felt comfortable. He was extremely polite and went over the protocols. The surgery was a breeze and over in a flash. It was painless and I was very happy. Dr. Tian told me what I could expect in my vision over the next several days.

The next day I had a follow-up consultation and exam. Dr. Tian said it could take a few days for my vision to clear up. But within three hours after arriving home, my vision was 95-98%. Later that day, Dr. Tian called me and asked how my vision was doing. I told him, “Excellent.”

Dr. Tian did my left eye a month later. My vision in my left eye is excellent as well. So now, for the first time in six years I can see almost like I did when I was 20! And I do not need glasses at all. Everything is bright and clear.

To summarize, Dr. Jack Tian is a personable, talented eye surgeon and, just as importantly, a master communicator. The staff is also very talented and professional. I, and my eyes, were and are in great hands.

It has been 15 months since I had cataract surgery on my right eye. Dr. Jack Tian performed this surgery. I would like to share my personal experience.

What was supposed to be a "five-minute surgery" (explained to me by an attending nurse), ended up being a long, 25-minute surgery due to a complication that occurred at the beginning of my surgery. This resulted in these damages to my eye:

1. "Profound iris prolapse with iridodialysis".
2. A "dislocated pupil", which resulted in an odd, rectangular-shaped pupil appearing to be nearly four-times the size of my other pupil. This has left me excruciatingly sensitive to light, both indoors & outdoors.
3. "Corneal edema", resulting in severe inflammation.

This surgery, what happened, & what I heard in the operating room, continues to this day to be a most horrific & traumatizing experience for me, both physically & mentally. I'm still unable to talk about my experience with my care providers, family, & friends without shedding many tears. It has been that difficult.

I have spent the past 15 months working on healing with care from other doctors, a cornea specialist/surgeon & my family eye doctor. I'm STILL trying to understand, to figure out WHY this surgery happened the way that it did. When I asked, Dr. Jack Tian was vague & wouldn't answer my questions directly. He was never able to adequately explain to me WHAT happened (only sharing that it was "an unknown"), WHY it happened, & WHY there wasn't a plan in place to minimize and/or prevent any damage should surgery not go as expected/planned. I will never, ever understand why there wasn't more that he could have done. He is a doctor, a surgeon. This left me feeling lost & completely abandoned; on my own to find answers to my questions.

Dr Jack Tian was a hurried doctor. It never felt that he truly listened & heard my concerns. I never did receive a sincere apology or sense any compassion for what happened to me. His bedside manner, empathy, & care for my situation was disappointingly lacking. At post-surgical appointments when I did see him, he would tell me at each appointment that I would have "good vision in two more weeks", while assuring me that my vision would be "20/20 to 20/25". He even had the audacity to tell me that the "surgery was a success" & that it "could have been worse". At this date, I continue to see a world that is EXCRUCIATINGLY bright (due to a now oversized pupil), blurry, & "cloudy"(cornea damage), streaked with glare & halos due to the damage that was incurred. Bottomline, the health of my eye & my vision are much worse after cataract surgery performed by Dr. Jack Tian. I opted for an "upgraded package" with a toric lens implant to correct my astigmatism. This was an additional $2550.00, paid out-of-pocket from hard-earned retirement savings. It's hard not to feel that I was "ripped off"; I definitely didn't get what I paid for. I don't have the vision that I was told I should expect.

It is my nature to be an informed consumer, to educate myself thoroughly via reading articles from respected & trustworthy sources. Cataract surgery is considered a low-risk surgery with nearly 98% of patients reporting no outstanding issues. I do know that there are risks involved with any surgery. Still, it's so difficult to comprehend that a surgeon would leave someone in such a state as Dr. Jack Tian left me. This experience has made it difficult for me to trust other medical professionals with regard to whether I will receive adequate care.

I'm trying to forgive, to move forward, but it's been a difficult journey. I now have to live with the injuries incurred during this surgery for the remainder of my life.
