While I believe in psychotherapy, some people honestly do more damage than good. At my lowest, Dr Nayman was more concerned with the medical model approach and defining my illness, than providing any support or person centred care. I wish I'd never met her, she derailed my mental health in every way with her pathologising, cruel idea of "treatment". Just no compassion whatsoever.

very cold and distant person who lacks the ability to bond with a patient. The royal commission into mental health recently brought up a lot of problems with power in the MH system - where ppl who should not have access to vulnerable ppl talk-down to them, ready to pathologise normal human emotions like grief and loss. That's Ilana - the cold, exacting eye of a doctor - who should never work in any therapeutic field and would be better suited to something which doen't involve counselling.

Dr Nayman is a considerate and dedicated professional, who cares about her patients. i did not click with her personally, so I wasn't able to benefit sadly however her care still remained with me afterwards, and I wanted to commend her on her hard work and commitment to her patients. She didn't give up on me, and she made me feel valued. I wish her all the best and consider her one of the good ones.

I saw Dr Nayman for approx 18 months and in that time ascertained that she is most definitely one of the Best and most experienced therapists in Melbourne. She is professional, dependable a wonderful listener quiet, gentle and reserved. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough.

One of the most professional, dedicated, trustworthy, thorough and genuinely warm clinicians I have ever had the pleasure of being treated by. Not only is her knowledge in-depth and experience extremely broad, but she is a person before a doctor, and treated me as an equal with warm and good humour. She is very reserved and quiet which suited my quiet nature and fragile health. Thank you Ilana. E

Having previously seen other therapists, I found Dr Nayman to be exceptionally warm and caring, highly professional and with exceptional depth of knowledge. Her demeanour is gentle & calm and I found her to be respectable of me as an equal during my treatment. I highly recommend her.

Sadly, I didn't have a great experience with Dr. Nayman either. Was basically told I could take a course of medication or would need to see her twice per week for quite some time into the future. Couldn't afford the twice weekly therapy (had ceased work due to severe depression) and I feel the course of medication she prescribed was a bit overkill as I was a zombie while taking it. I'm not a medical professional so who knows, but I didn't feel I recieved the best care being her patient. Subsequent doctors were more successful in helping me with my condition.

I just read the other review - I can see how Dr N could be a bit dismissive of patients struggle and find a way to blame the patient. This would be hurtful to someone who was vulnerable and needed a boost of strength to overcome their adversity. Not for you if you need sensitivity in your journey.
