Dr Khurana is a brilliant physician, and an exceptionally caring person. My personal experience under his care has been life-changing. I was faced with a future of pain, restricted life opportunities and dependence. When Dr Khurana performed lumbar ALIF surgery, assisted by an exceptional vascular surgeon Miss Sharmila Balanathan, my health and my future changed radically for the better. Dr Khurana combines his world-class education and experience with a genuine desire to improve the health and well-being of his patients. He is approachable, honest and ethical. I am so very grateful I was referred to him, and that he has taken a long-term interest in my spinal and overall health.

Dr Khurana is exceptional in knowledge, professionalism and is empathetic. In my first appointment he explained in detail to my husband and myself what my scan indicated, the shorter- and longer-term implications both health and lifestyle of what may occur without surgical intervention, the required two surgical procedures and expected outcomes. Dr Khurana was patient and answered all our questions, help put me at ease as I was very anxious about the entire process. We did not feel rushed at all. There was a large amount of information to absorb, and I certainly was not expecting that level of surgeries at 56. I also did do further research on Dr Khurana’s reviews, the procedures, and other surgeons to be ensure I was fully informed (due diligence😊).
I returned for a second appointment with a list of further questions which Dr Khurana kindly answered. He is approachable, genuine, and ethical. It was clear Dr Khurana was the only surgeon for me and we scheduled in surgery. Pre surgery I had contact/consult with his surgical team; 2 x anaesthetists, vascular surgeon who were all caring and reassuring.
Stage 1 was a posterior decompression and disc replacement at L4, Stage 2 an anterior lumbar interbody fusion at L4/5 with a cage system. The two surgeries went well under the expert attention of Dr Khurana, his team including Dr Diana Khurana assisting and the caring nursing staff at Hurstville Private Hospital. There were regular visits by Dr Khurana ensuring I was recovering and progressing well. This was reassuring and instilled confidence I could manage recovering at home after 10 days in hospital.
I am now just over 6 months post operations and Dr Khurana’s care continues. I have a depth of gratitude to Dr Khurana who has given me my quality of life back and expecting for many years to come.
Dr Khurana’s office staff are caring and respectful. They are wonderful to deal with and continue so in post operation care and appointments. This reflects Dr Khurana himself and his integrated approach.
Thanks Dr Khurana.

I can only state how fortunate I was to be introduced to Dr Gautam (Vini) Khurana around seven years ago. This man is caring and considerate in all ways. I suffered with pain for forty years. Sometimes I was on my hands and knees only able to crawl about. Just prior to the operation I was wheelchair bound, unable to climb five steps into the hotel. For me he is my miracle worker. I have been pain free ever since the operation and I am now 78 years young, leading a normal life, travelling with my wife and family and forever grateful. My recent check up shows the two spinal implants working perfectly.

Dr Khurana or Vini as he allowed me to call him, was professional, knowledgeable and extremely caring throughout all aspects of my surgery and follow up visits. He has given me a new level of mobility and guidance for my future management plan. I can highly recommend him and have done so to friends and acquaintances who have asked me about my experience.

After a decade (from age 40 to 50 years) of debilitating pain, severely restricted mobility, and many medical doctors, specialists, and tests, without a diagnosis, Dr Khurana was able to correctly diagnose me via Telehealth from previous MRI results.
Dr Khurana goes above and beyond for his patients. I have undergone two successful surgeries with Dr Khurana and am forever grateful for his skill, attention and dedication.
Dr Khurana is the only neurosurgeon servicing the ACT that I trust. I only wish I had found him sooner.

At the time of my surgery I was 34 years old. I had spent the previous 3 years of my life in excruciating pain with two bulged discs. I was a searching for a doctor who made me feel comfortable and had a surgical plan that made sense to me.
I saw in excess of 15 specialists in that time, all of whom wanted to perform spinal fusion or implant nerve blockers, none of which I was comfortable with.
I finally found Dr Vini and his team, and from our very first meeting I knew he was the Dr I’d been searching for. In April 2019 I had lumbar ALIF surgery. The entire process was flawless, from pick up at the airport, how I was cared for at the hospital and postoperatively. I can not recommend Dr Khurana and his team more highly. They gave me a new lease on life, this year (2023) I completed a 3 day hike through the rugged mountains of Borneo (20kg backpack & all) I could never have imagined this could be my future before meeting Dr Vini.
I will be forever grateful!

I am a 63-year-old male who works as an electrical contractor in commercial buildings. I first visited Dr Khurana over 15 months ago after suffering from long term lower back pain that radiated down my legs and was inhibiting my work and leisure as I had surfed and water skied for most of my life and was no longer able to enjoy these activities.

After meeting Dr Khurana and being put totally at ease by not only his obvious knowledge and experience but also his friendly and caring attitude, I felt assured that he could help me return to my previous life and I was right to put my faith in him.

After a couple of surgeries, I am pain free and am so grateful that I found Dr Khurana. I would also like to comment on his wonderful staff, who are always available to answer any questions and generally help in a pleasant and very patient manner.

I would have no problem recommending this outstanding surgeon and very kind and lovely man, who is proof that specialists can also have a wonderful bedside manner. His after care should also be commended as there was not a day in hospital that he didn't visit to check on my recovery.

I look forward to returning to my previous leisure activities, once my post operative timeline allows, and have no doubt that if I continue to follow Dr Khurana's advice, I will get to enjoy them for many years to come.

Thankyou Vini and Team at CNS Neurosurgery. You are outstanding!!
