I'm surprised by some of the bad reviews I read online, and admit they made us pretty nervous pre-appointment. That fear was unnecessary!
I feel bad for the Dr, because I think people sometimes come in expecting an instant fix, but, (as Dr Ajala informed us in our meeting,) many endocrine issues simply can't be measured by blood tests, so diagnosis is often heavily based upon "symptoms," which realistically requires a longer term "trial & error" approach.

My wife saw Dr Ajala in Jan 2024 for some Hormone related issues, that required more in-depth review than our family physician is qualified for. The clinic staff were friendly and competent.

We saw the Dr in a timely fashion. My assessment is that Dr Ajala is very professionally focused, (pleasant enough, but not there to chit-chat, rather to deal with the medical matter at hand,) and that's a Good thing. We don't like to waste time with casual conversation either, and I'm guessing she already sees her share of hypochondriacs.

Dr Ajala was also very clear that Her focus in reviewing my wife's medical history would be limited to the "endocrine system," which makes total sense, since that is her specialty. Other Doctors handle other issues, but Endocrinology insight was Exactly what we were seeking.

In that aspect, she was Exemplary! She listened carefully to, and answered, all of our questions.
She reviewed my wife's current medications, then provided several important specific thoughts regarding what medications she deemed effective/in-effective for my wife, then explaining why, given her specific medical history.
It was the first time in years that my wife felt like she actually received some real answers as to what is happening with her body post-menopause! And, going forward, she actually has some mental relief, knowing someone qualified has looked at her case and suggested a specific action plan.

Dr Ajala was also kind enough to offer a telephone consult any time if my Mrs needed it for follow-up questions, because she knew we travel long-distance from Taber. We were very grateful for that option, because it means that, unlike in the past, my wife will not be left "hanging" for months/years with unanswered questions, after she has started a new treatment regimen. That's HUGE!

So, Thank you, Dr Buki and your staff, for a very positive experience.💖

She is one of the worst experience of a doctor I've had over the years. I was not originally her patient but was moved to her when almost every other doctor it seems in that clinic left/simply just not around. She looked overworked and exhausted, which I could empathize with, but it does not justify the rudeness, arrogance and shortness. She did not seem interested in my file or any of my follow-up sessions. I would sit waiting at the clinic each time for over 45 mins even though there is literally no patient in the clinic (this was before COVID and there were no appointments by phone). During COVID, I was waiting for her call. Way after the appointment, I called to ask what's going on and she said I was the one who missed the appointment, and I said I did not. When I went back on my calls for that day, the only number was an out of province BC number I likely thought was spam, and it wasn't even close to the time of the appointment. Even if it was a misunderstanding, it was her attitude about it that was the nail in the coffin for me - she basically said it was my fault because I missed the call. I'm sorry, I don't expect to wait by the phone for hours because you think your time is more precious than your patient's, or for my doctor to call from what now appears to be on their vacation/out of province trip. No understanding, no give, no two-way. Just the worst experience. Never went back.

Serious lack of professionalism. Doesn’t take health care of patients seriously. She was vague and said she would answer questions when bloodwork came back then took months to book an appointment and staff keep giving me the run around. No one leaves a message when they call and I have no idea how to manage my situation. Highly recommend seeing someone who takes your health seriously.

Not sure where the bad comments come from? Dr. Ajala is very knowledgeable and I can trust her opinion! Great doc! She is straight forward. Maybe some seen that as arrogance but it's completely the opposite. She doesn't waste your time or hers. Gets to the point and treats what she knows WILL help.

I've only gone in once for my initial appointment. Follow up was over the phone. I found her thorough and helpful. She's not there to be my friend but that said, she was also kind and approachable. I wanted more tests prior to committing to medications and she was willing to request and analyze prior to prescribing. Appointments do take months to book but that's not on her, that's on our understaffed AHS system. I've referred my husband to her now as well.
