I had my third call with him this today (I was referred a YEAR ago to put that into perspective). First call, he was nice, hopeful around vaccines for my dog allergies, told me to call again in 6 months to get an update on their availability. 2nd call, his tone had changed, he was dismissive, but promised he'd do some research on the shots (also told me to get rid of the dogs). During today's call, he repeatedly laughed at me through the phone and suggested I find a new partner or get rid of his dogs. The call lasted all but 3 mins (similar length to the first two). I've never been talked to in such a misogynistic, demeaning, and condescending manner from a professional before. I have a graduate degree, I fully understand how vaccines and medication work, not that he would care. Feeling desperate I asked if there are ANY treatments or medications for dog allergies that he could suggest, but he dodged the question repeatedly and continued to laugh at me. Despite him saying that #1 he didn't have the shots and #2 they don't work, he told me to call him again next week to see what he could do since I "wanted them so bad". I wanted the call to be over so badly, I felt like crying. Needless to say I immediately called my GP and requested a transfer to an allergist 1 hour away, since there are sadly no other allergists in Ptbo. If you have a dog allergy (or expect constructive and respectful communication) - don't go here.

Dr. Comerford is amazing. My daughter has been seeing him for a number of years. He has solved the mystery of her allergies.

Good doctor, horrible receptionist. Loves to exercise the tiny amount of power she has, by making you wait until SHE feels ready to acknowledge your arrival or book an appointment. Pretends to be massively busy while doing practically nothing, all so as to stoke her insecure ego. Silly, annoying woman.

I am not usually one to review doctors or really involve myself with social media, but due to our terrible experience last week I felt quite compelled and obligated to write something warning others. Dr. Comerford himself was fine, as a matter of fact I applaud him for dealing with the issue caused by his receptionist. We had traveled over an hour with our two children for a consult with Dr. Comerford. My husband who was quite ill at the time came along in case I needed him to help with our little guy knowing that the allergy test would be quite uncomfortable for him. My husband originally had not come into the building and had decided to rest in the vehicle and would come in only if I needed a hand. I did end up needing a hand holding our little guy still for the 15 minutes following the allergy test. We were told to go back out into the waiting room once the time was up, and the receptionist very loudly told us to sit on the other side of the room because we smelled like marijuana! All eyes were on us. Neither my husband or myself smoke marijuana or cigarettes, and as I mentioned before, we had just traveled over an hour with our two children. I felt unbelievably humiliated, embarrassed, angry, belittled, judged, etc... My husband was ready to leave right then and there without seeing the doctor. My little guy and I waited to see him and immediately Dr. Comerford could tell that I as upset. I told him what had taken place and he called the receptionist into the room to address the issue. How incredibly unprofesional of her! To be accosted by someone and accused of being a drug user in front of a room filled with people including our children! Back in the day she would have been fired right then and there, It was an interesting drive home having to explain what marijuana is to our 10 year old, Would prefer to never go back there just out of pure humiliation despite the fact that Dr. Comerford himself seemed... fine. Looking at the report now, what he wrote about our sons allergies is written very sarcastically. Not impressed.

I feel very lucky to have Dr. Commerford as a doctor. He has really taken an interest and put a lot of time into helping me figure out what is wrong with me. He has a wonderful bedside manner and seems to actually care.

I've dealt with Dr.Comerford and his staff for 2 of my children, both have allergies, one has life threatening yellow jacket allergies. He and his staff were always excellent in my opinion. Just this past week we were in New Brunswick and I'd forgotten to take my Epipen Jr for my son (I always keep one in my purse but must have taken it out before and forgotten to put it back). Called the family doctor - no response and have yet to hear back from her - no surprise there. Dr.Comerford's secretary said he was busy with appointments but she'd try to get the Rx faxed to the pharmacy I told her of in NB. I got there just after and sure enough, everything was ready. I appreciate this staff for going out of their way to help me even though technically it was my family doctor's job. Glad I didn't have to use the Epipen but thankful to have had it just in case. Thanks very much!

My daughter went in today to test for food allergies as a few months back she kept vomitting for no reason. Naturally i was asked about eating habits but also pets. Once i mentioned we had dogs he asked what kind. As soon as i said one was an american bulldog mix (completely legal in ontario!) his attitude towards me changed. He asked how big my bully was and i said he was small for his breed, then he proceeds to suggest his not friendly, when i said my dog was friendly, he then told me my dog bites people, again i said that wasnt true and that he loves the kids. He gives me this look like im lying and says testing for food allergies is a waste of time and hes only doing test for environmental allergies. Without any further questions about what she eats. Thankfully the lady that performed the test was much nicer and saw on the chart that we had dogs and told me “good news shes not allergic to the dogs! Just cats”. I was relieved but still dont know if she had food allergies. Then we saw the doctor again and he suggested i get rid of my dogs. So i asked if she was allergic (knowing she wasnt) and he just tosses the results at me and says its a good idea to get rid of them.

Im sure if it wasnt for the nurse i would of left there thinking i had to rehome my dogs because of this doctors prejudice. My dogs are loyal and far from agressive, i thought this doctor was competely unprofessional. His opinion about my dogs breed has nothing to do with my daughters potential food allergies!

I did not deserve to get discriminated on the breed of my dog. And if my daughter does have food allergies we still dont know! He tried to make it seem like it couldnt be food because the episode were a while back but he was clearly wanting to prove she was allergic to the dogs that weve had for 3 years! Im not even kidding he said “if she can eat peanut butter and eggs she doesnt have food allergies”!!!!

It has been almost 3 weeks since I requested a simple fax of paperwork over to a LifeLab. They keep putting me off, even though I have called every week.
Dr. Comerford is lovely, but both he and the staff are clearly inefficiently paced. I would go somewhere else were it not such a hassle to start from scratch.
