Gastric bypass surgery in 05 went perfectly, had a hernia as a result and went to him for repair, he used a recalled mesh to repair the hernia and when I complained of severe pain he stated “if you’re in that much pain you need to go to a pain clinic”. 2 days later after the pain was unbearable I went to st. Francis in Greenville and was rushed into surgery because I had 13 liters of mrsa infection in my stomach cavity, almost claiming my life. Since this happened I’ve had 4 hernia repairs having to heal open, from the inside out twice and I just had another hernia repair today 11/9/18. This guy should have his license revoked and placed in prison for his negligence and be forced to repay all of the medical costs paid out of pocket and those covered by insurance, we’re talking tens of thousands of dollars. I want no one to ever undergo what I’ve endured as a result of this guy and his staff, who by the way has never returned a phone call, email, letter or certified communication for 14 years. I urge anyone who is considering or has scheduled surgery with this quack to cease any future contact and interaction immediately before they experience this life altering experience themselves. Read similar reviews posted here and do not dismiss them as crazy clients seeking some sort of revenge because every word included in this review is the truth and may save your life. I have no pending ligation against anmed or rowtiz nor have I ever attempted such action because I was blessed to survive this and considered that payment enough, thank the Lord. If Blair rowitz or his staff reads this review Know your actions have ruined the lives of not only myself and my family including my daughter but others who have passed away or live with the results of botched surgeries preformed by and facilitated by those involved. Each one of you will have to answer for your role eventually and I hope I’m around to witness it. Please choose another practice because this quack will continue to harm his patients with no remorse. Honestly I can’t even believe he’s still practicing after all of the lives he’s destroyed, I couldn’t live with myself knowing I directly ruined the lives of so many people. Quit while you’re ahead!!!!!

I had band surgery in October 07.. I have just lost all my weight in 2012. Five years later with diet and exercise not with his help..he refused to correct my adjustments to my band. He wouldn't listen to my complaints about abdominal pain..he is the worst aftercare surgeon. Now I have a bad gallbladder that was a result of him not listening earlier.his staff is great..

Dr. Rowitz nor his staff ever warned me of the potential to develop an addiction transfer. That was no where in the paperwork or disclosures or the informational meetings I attended. After I had my WLS I started to experience alcolhol dependency. I had never had any alcohol problems before. It has ruined my life. I was rushed into a surgery date when I was only 20 years old because I had insurance that would pay!! They didn't even complete a psych exam on me. I have called Dr. Rowitz's office several times over the years since my surgery asking for help but have been told time and time again that addiction transfer is "just a myth". Not true. Find out your risks before considering this surgery. I wish I had known.

Dr. Rowitz came very close to letting me die. He left a whole in my stomach and after gluing it closed still had to do and emergency surgery where he opened me up and left me open to heal from the inside out. I told him that there was still a problem which he refused to address and noted in his records that it was all in my mind. I ended up at the SC Obesity Center where they had to open me up again and repair the damage that Dr. Rowitz had done. I have a document where my medical records were reviewed by another Doctor who stated that Dr. Rowitz Post Operative was the worst he has ever seen. This Doctor has caused me to go through hell and back. Dr. Rowitz to this day has never called or contacted me again after all of this. I would never recommend Dr. Rowitz. My life will never be the same because of this doctor.

I am 55 years old. Dr Rowitz did my Gastric Bypass in October of 2005. Here we are 5 years later and the weight is still off. Throughout the hospital stay and during recuperation both the doctor and his staff were exemplary in their caring and helpful attitude. Would HIGHLY recommend!!!

Dr. Rowitz caused me many problems by errors during surgery...but the worst part was that he failed to communicate with the family and let us know what had happened. He failed to take responsibility for his errors. Because of this I suffered a great loss of my ability to perform activities of daily living. I am 83 years old...I was driving and doing for myself when I went in for routine surgery...now I have been in the hospital for more than a month and had to fire Dr. Rowitz as my surgeon. But how do we explain all this to my 91-year-old wife??? Dr. Rowitz should have to answer for his actions in this case.
