I've had experiences with some very good anesthesiologists. They spent a good bit of time with me prior to the surgery, talking me through what was going to happen, giving me a chance to ask questions, etc. They also administered the correct amount of anesthesia such that I was back to mental alertness shortly after the surgery. Unfortunately, my last experience was with Dr. Buchholz, and she did none of the above. I was groggy, nauseous, and unable to pee in any significant amount for several days after she got done with me. (And this was not major surgery by any means!) They were about to catheterize me when the anesthetic *finally* wore off
