BEWARE THIS SURGEON!! He performs unnecessary surgeries and then abandons patients and refuses to see them! I almost DIED several times bc of him!! I WISH I could post a picture of the unnecessary slice he cut open my brain with that he didn't need to do! Not only that he didn't even remove the tumor and I needed repeat surgery that was done correctly through my nose to actually remove the tumor!!! He is HORRIBLE!! The Baylor pituitary clinic even has other patients he did the same too and they said BEWARE!!! HE IS HORRIBLE!

Dr Sheddin operated on my mom’s back and came in the next day to tell us he did the surgery on the wrong part! He took no ownership and completely blamed the x-ray tech for putting the x-ray upside down! My parents agreed to let him re-do the surgery a few days later. The day after my mom was discharged she was experiencing alarming symptoms. Sheddins office had no after hours number or “on call” dr. We ended up calling the icu where my mom had been at St. Luke’s and his PA happened to be there. We asked to talk to her and she said she wouldn’t talk to us because my mom was discharged from Sheddin. If we were worried take her to the ER. We ended up calling an ambulance to take her back to St. Luke’s where we discovered my mom had bacterial meningitis from Sheddin cutting the spinal dura during the second surgery that only occurred due to his negligence! My mom spent weeks in icu and months recovering in a rehab hospital. Sheddin is arrogant and negligent. We lost precious hours due to his office not having after hours care and we almost lost my mom. Stay away from him!!

Over-rated. I had severe TBI, and he left me in an unstable state because of money, and had previously sent me to a CHI St. Lukes outpatient for MRI and the tech roughly touched my crainotomy wound area (just skin and brain- no skull!) subjecting me to further pain and trauma, I felt like somebody had beaten me up, and for four days could not move from couch. How could a neurosurgeon allow that? This was after I had to chase down the staff to do my hourly checks in the hospital, and it seemed that nobody was really dialed into what was really happening with me. I almost died. Although he is a personable guy, and seemingly knowledgeable it does not always seem to translate into care. My second Neurosurgeon seemed to do these things will little effort ,great results, and much less staff. I get the sense that alot of this was show with this neurosurgeon's efforts, and ofcourse bigger bills. They were very clear that they were in it for the money. I don't mind people making money, but when saving people's lives seems secondary, and it is all about the money, well one should give pause.

Highly overrated. Diagnostic capability on backs very poor. I was worse post surgery and he had no explanations. Later discovered he did laminectomy on L3/4 and L4/5 but was only supposed to do L4/5. He never communicated his error and refused to talk to me about it. Very questionable ethics. Avoid

He performed a MVD surgery in October, 2016. However, there was a rare complication, a CSF leak 8 days later. He performed the surgery again as there was no way to determine what caused the CSF Leak. I have found his follow-up care to be thorough and informative.

Dr. Shedden performed a craniotomy on my husband and by all accounts seems to be an excellent Doctor. However, our experience with his staff- Mary in particular was an absolute nightmare. Worst supposedly professional I have EVER encountered. After she removed the last tube from my husband's brain- she ignored my concerns if his sudden confusion and extremely slurred speech. A short time later he suffered a gran mall seizure. He went from a walking, talking, almost back to normal man to weeks as a near vegetable. His office person Tara could have cared less that the week after surgery I called at 9:20 in the morning with my husband in excruciating pain in his rib cage and arm. She said she did not know when anyone would be available to help. We wound up hours later at Methodist hospital in Houston downtown medical center with new pneumonia and blood clots in his lungs and leg. You be the judge.

There is no care after surgery from this Dr when a problem develops. The only option they give is the emergency room. Nothing after that.

Dr Shedden operated on my back on May 11th. I had a laminectomy and two fusions. After the third day, I realized that my surgery was a success! I had been in misery for at least six months and was now practically pain free. If it were not for the normal pain from the surgical site, I would have been pain free! I really do wish I had done the surgery sooner and not suffered for so long. Dr. Shedden is a very skilled surgeon and I would certainally recommend him!

I have zero sympathy for doctors that on a clinic day cannot manage it have any respect whatsoever for his patients. The typical wait time is at a minimum an hour and a half and could be up to 3 hours. Stop making excuses for these doctors that disrespect the time of their patients yet make you sign a piece of paper saying you will be assessed a fee if you're late to your appointment. It is a shame and unbelievable ego and lack of professionalism.
