If you’re late, even less than 5 minutes, she will cancel your appointment and make you reschedule. However, she can take as much time as she needs before you get called back. She either has a very high opinion of herself or a very low interest in her patients.

Been treated here for 14 years. Dr. Tolin treats me as an adult, and does not really go talky, but listens and works to get the best combination of potions for my needs. I’d be loathe to have to find another HC provider as good. I do recommend. I hear good things about other doctors at the practice but that’s heresay. Desk staff have been courteous always.

Open disdain for actual psychiatric patients. More likely to criticize patients needs and blow up than to take them seriously. Probably the doctor most likely to label you "crazy" and disregard anything you say as a result. If you have special needs (neurodiverse, disability, etc.), don't even bother... this is the specific type of doctor to avoid. Likely to be 5 minutes late to appointments, but will cancel @ 10 minutes. More problems with office staff being late with pre-auths and late callbacks (eg. appt reminders after the appt) than any other healthcare office I've seen in 2 decades of chronic healthcare problems.

Dr. Tolin has been my psychiatrist for a decade. She’s been attentive, professional and generally nice, I’d recommend her for mood disorders particularly. Took a while to dial meds in, but that’s always going to be the case. The couple of times I’ve called in real trouble she was quick to return my call and responded appropriately. TL:DR, she’s cool.

Was on lithium 5 years without blood tests, after being dx'ed with acquired hypothyroidism due to lithium. Actually never ordered blood tests, was offended that I suggested they might be neccessary. Yelled at me when I described symptoms of something she'd already diagnosed me with, apparently thinking that I was questioning her judgement. Absolutely refuses to help patients in a crisis. Called in during a acute manic ep with paranoia and she agreed to see me in 3 weeks. My usual major symptom is forgetfulness. I called asking for a reminder of an appointment time. 3 days later I found out my appt was the day after I called, when the office staff got around to returning my call. Then she repeated her fees 3 times while I attempted to describe manic symptoms... I have zero problems paying (even in cash), and told her directly the first time. I have no idea why anyone who actually needs a doctor would see her. Oh, also, she's frequently late to appointments herself.

You're reading this review because you need help, and you took the first step- reaching out... congrats! Save yourself time, money, and aggravation; skip Dr Tolin and this practice and find yourself a compassionate doctor who listens and doesn't live by the notion that others are stupid.

I do not recommend Wake Psychiatry, specifically, Dr. Kellie Tolin. I got transferred to her because my previous provider at Wake Psychiatry went on leave. I confirmed with Wake Psychiatry staff prior to the appointment that my new provider (Kellie) would get my records. I was assured that she would because my primary primary provider was not sending the records to any particular doctor but to the practice as a whole.

At my first appointment, she was unprepared and extreamly rude. She never "received" my records, nor was any knowledge transfer done, so I had to do intake all over again .

During our session, we were discussing medications, and she "ripped the words right out of my mouth" in regards to mentioning a particular medication. She said, "I'm going to nip this in the bud right here", implying that I was requesting or seeking out the medication (med seeking). Not only was sharply cutting me off mid-sentence extremely rude, but then when I questioned her about it she said, "the fact that you know of the medication is a red flag". This confirmed her behavior.

I could not believe what I was hearing, for I was extreamly offended for being labeled this way. I have a complicated case and it is hard to get help because of subpar medical "professionals" like Dr Kellie Tolin.

She is had to backtrack for her narcissistic, condescending behavior and is completely out of touch with reality. I can guarantee if we sampled society, the majority of our sample would know the class of drugs that she insisted was a red flag by knowing the name alone.

I saw Dr. Tolin for a few years at first she was kind and helpful, seemed to listen. When I started having a difficult time she quickly turned into something else completely. I was part of a support group at some point and another girl mentioned this also. I was in crisis and have for the most part been able to keep myself afloat and I'm very responsible for my care. She started cancelling my appointments during a time when I told her I was suicidal. (She did this to the other person as well). Her staff would tell me that I'm not allowed to use the restroom while I waited because if she came out and I was in the restroom then she'd cancel my appointment. She did this probably 5 plus times and I couldn't take it anymore. I wasn't getting the help I needed and she became super rude and didn't listen to my symptoms and concerns. I think it's a really practice as a mental health doctor to cancel folks appointments and treat them terribly when they are struggling and in their worst of times. That's very scary to me and was at the time that she was capable of behaving that way. I wouldn't trust her, if you're struggling she will abandon you and your care. Do not recommend.

I couldn't agree more with the two previous negative comments. I would strongly not recommend seeing her either for therapy or for meds management.

Dr. Kellie Tolin has proven to be very unpredictacle as far as her temperament goes, very judgemental and sometimes seems downright agitated and angry; which is not the way to forge a trusting Dr. patient relationship. If you inadvertantly in any way aggrivate her... she will have you leaving her office in tears and never return. She is unprofessional and angry.
