Dr. Cough did surgery on my neck that other surgeons considered inoperable. He was very honest with me as per my choices. I could have a full fusion, which would keep me from ever turning my neck again (which I will eventually have to have) or a plate and screws, which would be a temporary measure, but allow more movement. At the time of my appointment, I had been old by more than one surgeon that i f I were to be rear ended at a stop light, I would very possibly become paralyzed.
Dr. Cough told me the same thing, but felt he could give me relief fro m the horrific pain I was in by a less intrusive surgery than the full fusion. I elected that, and he has helped my neck by that one surgery, which was 8 years ago.
Since then, I developed excruciating low back pain, causing me to walk bent in half, and only able to walk short distances. He ran extensive tests, and couldn't understand the amount of pain I felt according to test results. He told me I have a large amount of damage from arthritis, so he would try to clean the area up the best he could.
Right before go ing into the surgery, I felt led to have him add to the papers I was signing that if he found anything other than what tests showed, I gave him permission to do what he could to fix it. He asked if I was sure and I said yes. As it turned out none of the tests showed a tangling cyst the size of a tennis ball was wrapped around the nerve center of my low back.
When I woke up, My nurses told me that it was a good thing doctor cliff was my doctor, because no other doctor would have even tried to do this surgery.I
I am beyond that for Dr. Cough and his skills as well as Angie, his Assistant, and would recommend him to everyone! They are both extremely caring and compassipnate, as well as highly gifted.
The only low mark I would give him is promptness, but that is due to the amount of time he takes with each patient, so that really is not a low mark...just part of having a caring Surgeon!

Dr. Clough in my opinion is at the top of his field. he is a compassionate surgeon with the most excellent bedside manner he don't rush you he sits and listens to you that's why he's late a lot but that's understandable he saved my life and I owe him the world and would recommend him to anyone he is an excellent doctor and he's not all about the money he cares about his patients and their well-being you'll never meet a nicer man and if I could recommend him for an award I would do it. I have nothing but great respect and love for this Dr thank you Dr.Clough. Caroline

Dr cough has always treated our family well. He took care of my mom when there wasn't any hope for surgery. She has now passed. I will always be in his debt for helping her. He has seen myself on occasion and he is so helpful. I trust him fully.

Seems friendly. But it's not real. He cut me up bad and won't ever see me - just his nurses who don't know what they're doing.

Dr Clough was very clear on what he was going to do and very knowledgeable about my condition. I haven't had any problems since 2007.

Horrible experience! Admitted to hospital in excoriating pain on Monday and informed I would have surgery that morning. He insisted my surgery was a “simple procedure and should be done as day surgery” I was bumped off the schedule for two days and did not have surgery until Wednesday afternoon. I did not receive DVT prevention even after requesting it because he did not feel it was necessary. My post op pain was not addressed and I was sent home since that was their routine. For months every appointment I had was with a RN or NP since he was too bust to keep an appointment. I had a DVT requiring surgery to keep my leg, nearly lost my life and my back was a mess, in constant pain!!!! Interventional radiology made suggestions for follow up, which he disregarded. I would be dead if I did not find another doctor. I have since had the same surgery done by another surgeon. I am now pain free and getting my life back on track. NO thanks to Dr Clough.
