I feel so blessed to find Dr Smiltniek, after we have been consistently humiliated and ignored by our previous Ped. She is wonderful, not only she exams my child carefully every time we go for a visit, most importantly, she LISTENS your concerns, and explains to you her thoughts. When she sees the need, she refers to specialist with no delay. The only thing I would recommend some improvement is her office- can be cleaned up a bit, but then again, it is a shared doctor office, so she and her staff probably don't have too much control over.

I love this doctor!! She's always nothing but kind, patient and most of all extremely knowledgeable. Prior to finding her, I had a few bad experiences finding a doctor for my daughter. So I looked long and hard and found Dr. Smiltnieks based on the wonderful reviews on RateMD. She's quite far from where I live but every bit of inconvenience getting there is worth it. She easily puts my girls at ease, by talking to them first and foremost and greeting them with a kind word. Then she listens to me, never rushing, and never lets me feel bad for raising even the most absurd question. I also like the fact that she doesn't like to over medicate the children and is genuinely concerned for their well-being. Several times she's called me at home to discuss the children's progress. I almost never have trouble getting last minute appointments if my children are sick. She's also full of interesting info like the latest research studies or detailed descriptions on ailments. Excellent Doctor!

Dr. Smiltnieks is the best! I read these reviews before deciding to take my newborn baby to her and I must say, most of these reviews are on point. She really is as wonderful as she is described here. As a first time mom, she has been a source of great support for me. She has alleviated many of concerns with great care and explanation. I never feel rushed with her and I get all my questions answered. She is a very knowledgeable Pediatrician and also has outstanding beside manners which is rare to find these days. I highly recommend this Pediatrician.

Dr. Smiltnieks is wonderful, always on time and doesn't rush you out the door. You can get a fast appointment with her which is critical when your child is sick. She is very soft spoken and gentle with my child. The nurses are wonderful as well. The office however, could use a fresh coat of paint and an total overhaul. At first you are put off when you walk in. The receptionists need a training lesson as well. Their rude, abrupt and seem to have a hard time doing the basic of tasks like scheduling a simple appointment. Its a busy office as there are other doctors and I can understand they too are busy, but they need some kind of order in there to at least look somewhat professional. Great doctor, nice nurses, poor office staff.

She is one of the best persons I have ever met, let alone an excellent doctor. She is so warm and so patient with kids, its amazing. If she is your kids ped, you are golden!

Dr. Smilnieks is not only a great pediatrician but a lovely lady to say the least. Her advice is always helpful & appreciated. She takes her time to access your child, and answer any questions you may have. I am so THANKFUL to have her as my daughter's pediatrician!

I am completely happy and thrilled with Dr. Smiltnieks. She is extremely good with the little ones and she doesn't jump to give you antibotics unless she feels that is the only way to help the child feel better. She never rushes the patient, she gives her undivided attention and is very persoalble

To put it in super simple words, Dr. Smiltnieks is just a great great doctor. She easily is one of the best doctors (not only pediatrician) that I’ve met so far in GTA. We moved from Etobicoke to Pickering but still take our 2 year old son to her because she is so good. She takes time to listens to you and explains everything to you in detail. We have another one on the way and she sure is going to be the second one's doc too. Thanks Dr. Smiltnieks.

Honest to goodness, she is one of the most wonderful women, let alone doctor, that I have ever met. She goes above and beyond for her patients, and her knowledge of mental illness is amazing as many doctors know minimal about these things, thus misdiagnosing or ignoring the issue.
