Do Not Go Here. My husband saw Dr. Schocket over the course of several years for chronic pain. He is one of the most uncaring, money-driven physicians on the planet. He overbooks to the point that you will have to wait an hour or more (my husband had to wait almost two hours for some appointments), and he often pawns you off on nurse practitioners. As far as being driven by money: he charges an upcharge if you pay your copay with a credit card! And if you then say you'll write a check to avoid the upcharge (which effectively makes your out of pocket copay several dollars more), the staff will tell you that the upcharge applies to checks too! Is that even LEGAL??? It surely isn't ethical. So I guess if you don't want to pay more than your copay, you have to hand over cash?! On top of all this ... his office staff and practices really suck. Just. Don't. Go. To. This. Doctor. There are many pain specialists in Austin, and there must be some who are much more compassionate and caring.

This so-called doctor is a walking horror! I caution you strongly not to ever think of getting involved with this idiot. He thinks only and always of himself, patients are packing his office like rats on a sinking ship! Anything this dr. told me all turned out to be a lie, later on the next appointment he backtracks and reverses whatever he told you previously. You cannot trust him even in the least, and his PA is again much worse than he is, also true of the rest of his staff. If you decide not to follow my cautions, you will end up a broken package of meat and bones; take care now!

Great Dr.! Amazingly knowledgeable on so many issues. I always refer friends to him. The wait is a little crazy sometimes, but the appointments are worth the wait.

The office threatens to charge you if you do not show up on time however they take you back an hour and a half later than your appointment so should they waive your copay? It's very frustrating. We have to take 3 hours outpf our day for a 10 minute appointment. That's no joke!

i have a chronic pain condition called RSD resulting from a surgical procedure. Dr. Schockett was incredibly knowledgeable about this condition, very open to discussing different treatment options and has always been professional. He spends time with you and doesn't just try to get through the appointment - he takes the time and listens - something I did not see at the previous pain group I had been going to. I've seen the same PA's each time I went which helped a lot since they knew what we had already tried. The only complaint is that they are so busy that they NEVER answer the phone. It's always leave a voicemail and they'll call back. The good news is that they DO call back :). I highly recommend them for anyone who has a chronic condition.

Treats me with respect, gives out and answers email quickly, does not treat me like a drug seeking criminal or talk down to me. Interested in pain related history, not my whole medical history. Genuinely wants to help

He did not take a medical history and ask about any drug allergies even after being told of severe reactions to several medications. Was never specific about what drug he was going to use for a spinal block and the only way I finally found out was to fianlly call the office to find out and ask the nurse. I cancelled the procedure, because it was something that I was very sensitive to. I was very disappointed in the whoe situation and how it was handled.
