Dr. Shirazian is truly an amazing and well rounded doctor. Her kindness brings the warmth and reassurance us patients need when we’re going through a huge health chapter in our lives. She takes the time and care into helping her patients, including myself, and I’m happy she was referred to me. She knows her stuff and her and her team know what they’re doing!

Dr. Shirazian performed an abdominal myomectomy to remove 44 fibroids from the outside of my uterus and within my uterine cavity.
She was thoughtful, caring and kind. She listened to all of my questions and fears and replied with the utmost compassion. Though I was nervous about the procedure, I felt safe because I trusted Dr. Shirazian. I knew that she would do everything in her power to provide me with the best care possible, and that is exactly what I got before, during and after my surgery.

When she said things would be drastically different after, I never dreamed they would be this wonderful. For starters, I have incredibly light periods and am no longer anemic. I don't have to continue getting weekly iron infusions, or the occasional emergency blood transfusion, and I'm not exhausted all of the time anymore. Those are just a few of the major ways that my life has changed for the greater thanks to Dr. Shirazian. I hope that that any woman who reads this will know that she doesn't have to keep suffering. There is someone out there who really wants to, and can help, and that person is Dr. Shirazian.

It gives me great pleasure to be able to write a review on behalf of Dr Shirazian and her team at the Center for Fibroid Care at NYU Langone.

I've suffered from excessive menstrual bleeding for a number of years due to uterine fibroids. However, I didn't want to get a hysterectomy, something that was recommended to me by multiple doctors. Instead, I wanted to get the least invasive, effective, treatment possible.

After considering a variety of treatment options, I met with Dr Shirazian, who suggested the Sonata Treatment (fibroid ablation inside the uterine wall) concurrently with Hysteroscopy (cutting out the fibroid inside the uterine cavity). I was excited but still nervous as I've been trying to avoid all surgical procedures. By the time I decided to try Sonata with Hysteroscopy, none of the non-surgical treatments were working. My periods were becoming heavier and heavier which was causing me to be severely anemic.

Dr Shirazian took her time to patiently answer all my questions, which put me at ease. Her bedside manner rivals her skill as a surgeon.

Fast forward three months post-procedure: I've had three cycles since then and my periods, which were routinely 12-14 days, have reduced to seven days with much lighter bleeding. A massive improvement from the heavy and debilitating periods I used to get, with painful cramps and large blood clots. And I am no longer anemic!

I would very strongly recommend Dr Shirazian, who is the founder of the Center for Fibroid Care at NYU Langone, to anyone who has been suffering from fibroids.

Dr. Shirazian completely changed my quality of life. I am healed and I am so grateful to her and her team at NYU Langone. I went in for uterine fibroids. My condition was moderately severe with at least eight fibroids showing on my MRI scan and ultra sound. I was concerned about surgery because of the recovery time and the scarring. Dr. Shirazian spoke at length with me and my husband during my visit about all of my options and I was able to choose the best one. I was scheduled for an open myomectomy six weeks later. Dr. Shirazian's surgical team was excellent and I can't sing their praises enough. They kept me well informed, they were attentive and their bedside manner was impeccable. As a black woman living in America, with black women not being cared for and dying during childbirth or shortly after, I feel so blessed to have had a team like this to take care of me during my fibroid removal. I ended up having 11 fibroids removed. I work as an actor and I was concerned about scarring on my abdomen. Dr. Shirazian made my incision so small (5cm) and below the bikini line; I won't have to worry about anyone seeing the scar - ever. Dr. Shirazian was attentive during the entire recovery process and made herself available 24/7 via email. My recovery lasted about 4 weeks and I was able to start swimming at 4 weeks. At 8 weeks I was able to start lifting weights again. If you are suffering from uterine fibroids, Dr. Shirazian and her team at NYU Langone are the best in the business.

I am so greatful for Dr. Shirazian. She did a laparoscopic procedure on me even if my fibroids were very large. I felt confident of her knowledge, experience and plan all throughout. She took extra care of the procedure going very well from the start. I recommended her to others. The procedure went very well and I can now live better.

I literally cannot say enough about Dr. Shirazian. I have had a myriad of serious health problems since my son was born 7.5 years ago. We noticed pretty soon on that a lot of my problems either got worse or occurred around my menstrual cycle. No doctor in the Capital District, where I live, ever took me seriously but years later I was finally diagnosed with presumed adenomyosis. My doctors were unwilling to perform a hysterectomy on me due to my previous surgeries and the fact that I have an implanted pain pump in my abdomen. I was told I might come out of the procedure with a colostomy bag and then they referred me to a specialist. That was the one good thing they did for me because that led me to meeting Dr. Shirazian. She was everything a doctor should be when I first met her and listened to me and came up with a very confident plan to remove my uterus. Two weeks ago she did just that and my recovery has been remarkable and I have felt better in these weeks than I have in years. I truly feel like I've gotten my life back and that I actually have a hopeful future ahead of me. It disgusts me that only 3 hours away doctors listen to you and take good care of you and don't treat you like you're crazy. Beyond that though, I am just truly and deeply grateful. Dr. Shirazian deserves a 10 star rating! I would recommend her to anyone having "strange" medical problems that get worse during their menstrual cycles. She is open-minded and will work with you to find a solution!

Dr. Shirazian was a beam of light when I met her. She listened to my voice and I could feel she really cared. Her passion spoke volumes. She thoroughly explained all my options to remove my 15 cm fibroid. While she gave me her medical opinion on what she thought was best, she also made me feel empowered to make my own decision on which treatment I was comfortable with. She naturally has a strength in connecting with patients. As a Black woman, this was very important to me.

Ultimately I got an open myomectomy in April 2023. The thought of surgery tortured me for months. To my surprise, the surgery was not at all what I expected. Under the care of Dr. Shirazian and her team, my surgery was a great success and a huge load off once completed. All the things I feared did not happen: I had no blood transfusion, no excruciating pain (with medication), no long recovery etc. My incision was horizontal and small considering how large my fibroid was and it seems to be healing well. I lost nearly 10 lbs after the surgery. After 12 days, it was unreal that I had just undergone a big surgery.
