Head, grabbed and slammed against equipment. Hand reaching for a Kleenex? Grabbed and pushed back on to the equipment handle.
Rude and physically rough. Seemed angry from the begining.

I saw Dr Kozousek on Sept 19th,2006..referred by my opthalmologist for wet macular degeneration..an emergency appointment...dye test done to confirm...was in a fragile state as previous month had bilateral mastectomy...Dr K never stopped talking...knew everything..I sugg Avastin or viscodyne but he wouldn't hear of that...it had to be the laser which completely destroyed sight in rt eye...my responsibility as should have walked out...I could afford to pay for the Avastin injections and too weak from cancer surgery and very upset. In Dec of that year I moved back to Ottawa...since the Halifax shenagins had to have vitrectomy in that eye up here amd Xmas eve(2012) knew that MD had hit my good eye...had immediate treatment at Ottawa Eye Institute with Avastin...compassionate and skilled retinologists...much questioning re right eye and what happened in Halifax...they were not impressed.Am an old RN trained in Hlfx and nursed here til 65.Never in my life have I ever met such an arrogant dr.

I was most disturbed by the fact that I was told on my first appointment that it was a timely matter and that if I had seen him 10 months earlier, I might have prevented my eyesight's decline. It took that long to get through the system. I did see someone almost immediately and then waited. My visit finished with a test which he did not look at until another month had passed. Then it took 3 weeks to see him and he told me that it might be possible to do something but he had been so negative about the treatment on the previous visit that I opted out. I will get a second opinion if that is possible. But how can it take 1 month to look over test results for a serious issue. I expect more. And now I don't trust him enough to go for treatment. He does try to be helpful and I know that they are overworked. But all of his delays have added two months and I would wait even longer for treatment that might not work at all.

"Dr. Koz" - sorry, I had to say it - is a knowledgeable, professional, and after the first appointment he was quite friendly. The problems, procedures, and possible outcomes were explained thoroughly. As far as punctuality is concerned, we live in a province of overweight diabetic people. The medical staff who have to treat us are overworked. We should feel blessed that we live in a country where we have access to this kind of expertise and that we do not have to come with credit cards in hand.

I've been seeing Dr. Kozousek for many years and I just recently had my optometrist refer me to the only other diabetic surgeon in my city. Dr. Kozousek is arrogant, rude, unpleasant, makes me feel as if I am an 'idiot', talks down to me, no proper explanation of the diagnosis. He recently diagnosed me with Cental Retina Vein Occlusion (CRVO) and he didn't even tell me the proper name for it - I had to ask him. He did a fluorescein angiogram of my eyes and when I called to ask the results, I was told just to come back in 8 weeks - no results were given to me. He previously did five laser surgeries on my left eye for diabetic retinopathy and I dreaded going to him for each one - he was rough and his attitude was from from any type of 'bedside manner'. I always neglected to ask him any questions, as he was so abrupt. I am not disputing his expertise but he definitely needs to treat his patients with respect, have a better demeanor and display a bit of empathy.

I had my first, and I hope only encounter, with Dr.Kozousek. He is rude and was very rough in performing an examination of my retina. He has a very poor "bedside manner". If he wasn't so rude and arrogant I would suggest he find another line of work ;however, these traits are not appropriate anywhere.

Dr. Kozousek is arrogant, arrogant, arrogant and this needs to be addressed. My experience with him was that after drops were put in my eyes, my eye pressures frighteningly increased. On a subsequent visit when I wished to avoid a repeat of this and stated this, he informed me this did not happen! It happened all right.

I lost vision in my right eye due to retina degeneration 7 years ago. I was very upset when the same thing started in my left eye. I was refered to Dr. kozousek for treatment of this; he fited me in very quickly despite a very bussy day he already had. He took the time to explain in detail. After a few injections I recovered my vision and I am able to drive again. The medication used was covered by my insurance, but if you have no insurance I am told that the province doesn't cover it - hardly the doctors fault. I am very happy with my experience under Dr. K's care.
