I was new to the Traverse City area and needing a primary care doctor and so glad I found Dr. Hughes. I am a nurse and like to research before selecting my physicians. I was extremely pleased with Dr Hughes and highly recommend her. She is knowledgeable, kind, patient and very thorough. She takes the time to listen to you and follows up when needed. Her office staff was also very friendly and helpful.

Knowledgeable. More drugs prescribed than with some DOs. Does manipulation and is certified OMT. Not afraid to refer. Very thorough. Would like her to talk through her therapy plan a bit more. Comfortable with her as my physician.

Dr. Hughes is one of the nicest, warmest and kindest doctors I have ever come across. She listens to all of my concerns, symptoms, and problems without interrupting. I have seen her well over 20 times and it's the same everytime (in a good way). She is compassionate and wants to help you feel better. The only drawback with her is that she's not that experienced or knowledgable. She's very young so I'm sure that will come with time. She spends as much time with me as necessary and looks everything up on the computer to get more information. She gives out lots of samples too! Most importantly, I feel like Dr. Hughes is concerned about me as a "person" and not as an illness. I've seen her balance her compassionate side with her concerned side when it comes to medicine; she doesn't want you to end up worse down the line and is hesitant to prescribe risky medications with lots of side effects. Overall, she's the BEST doctor I've ever seen!!!
