It seems that my experience with Dr Carter is as negative as most others has been positive. Well, that's the nature of of these reviews I suppose. It was November 30th at 10.30 and it was a concise but very curt consultation and I remember thinking he didn't want to be on the phone any longer than necessary. He told me he would contact the Fertility Clinic to arrange an appointment at Kelowna Hospital for sperm retrieval, that he would perform the operation, they would process his fee and that I should here something sometime in January.

January came and went and as I hadn't received any information I gave the Fertility Clinic a call to ask about the progress. They told me they had received no notes about our consultation. Any sperm retrieval takes place in Vancouver and not Kelowna, and that Dr Carter would not, in fact, be doing the procedure. I was bewildered by this response and now I have no confidence whatsoever in this process. To this date I have received no explanation for as to why Dr Carter told me several things and the Fertility Clinic is telling me something else. I came from a profession of being accountable for your decisions and actions and this doctor needs to be held accountable for not doing his job.

I was suffering with large kidney stones, first surgery I have ever had, told me exactly what will happen during the surgery and then recovery period. My surgery went very well. He was friendly, professional and caring.

Our first visit to Dr Carter and we were very pleased….he took his time explaining my husbands issue and laid out a schedule to address the issue.

Very disappointed.. I doubt if he heard I word I said about my symptoms..booking a procedure in the hospital was his only priority.

A very competent doctor who does NOT come across as an arrogant and in your face "I can fix all attitude". He is very consistent in in demeanour and I entrust every ounce of his experience and advice with regard to my treatment.

If I were able to give Zero Stars for preparedness, helpfulness, knowledge, patient care and ability to communicate or present a medical plan...Inmost definitely Would! After 3 years of no change on the size of the mass detected in my kidney while living in Kamloops, growth was detected by a scan completed in Kelowna. I was assigned to Dr. Michael Carter in Kelowna and waited 6 weeks to hear from him. Dr. Michael Carter did not even bother to read the 3 years of prior surveys, records or results. I found him to be completely ineffective as a Urologist, as he did not even bother to order urine or blood tests to monitor for any reason for the change in mass size. He WAS only interested in performing a biopsy on a mass that I have been previously advised, is not reachable. His approach appeared to be that of a person completely disinterested in my health and bordering on neglectful. If the medical motto is “First do no harm”, I feel that he has failed completely.

Has done surgery on me twice, very competent and knowledgeable. Showed a lot of empathy when I had catheter problems. No concerns at all, nice man.

Dr Carter seems alright. I met him in the operating room 2 min before I was put out. After surgery I went home and started to experience extreme swelling and pain. I tried to call the office the next day and couldn’t get ahold of receptionist. On hold all day. Got so bad I had to go to emergency. I still can’t get past the hold to book my follow up and I still want to know if my symptoms are normal. This sucks

Very polite and accommodating. Was understanding with my anxiety due to a past experience and did what he could to make it easier for me
